Very sturdy, but tedious to fill
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•June 30, 2018
I bought this to go with a rectangular 8'X11' patio umbrella I purchased on Amazon. It arrived in good condition and was easy to assemble. The SS stem is ingenious and no doubt will last a long time. It has already proven to hold the umbrella very good in heavy winds and rainstorms.
It took about 60-70 pounds of sand to fill it, which took a tedious hour and a half of my life that I'll never get back. Home improvement stores keep the bags of sand outside, which means the sand is wet. Trying to get wet sand to pass through a 1" hole is problematic to say the least. If I lived in a tropical environment, like Florida, I would have filled it with water. Considering the price of this base compared to others, I'm not sure it's worth it to buy the "empty" version when you figure in another $10 for sand and the time to fill it.

High quality, definitely well worth the price.

This umbrella base is fantastic! I ordered mine already filled and boy was it heavy! This thing is not going anywhere unless I roll it there, for sure. The rollers work great and it holds the umbrella firmly. It is a nice color that blends well with my deck, and my brown wicker outdoor furniture. The only thing that was a little bit of a problem is that installation (attaching the small plate to the underside) required a giant allen key, which I didn't have (and I do have many, many of them). One was not included in the package either. However, the allen key slot was so huge, I was able to use a flat head screwdriver to accomplish installing the plate.
This base is awesome.. are in the USA

This base is awesome. Made in the USA. Shipped quickly and it's durable. My 4yr old has ram it over with the powerwheels gator so many times. It has 2 screws keeping the umbrella in place and the wheel actually works well so long as the base is tipped enough! Great buy.
Not so Good

Arrived in heavy cardboard box. Unfortunately stand post which was not well protected, which needs to be secured was damaged by weight of base . The post has sharp edges at one end and it scraped the vinyl base in several places. Email to seller was quickly answered and they sent replacement of post. Although the rolling pin feature seems like a good idea, it is not necessary on my wooden deck as the base just slides across, with little effort, kind of defeats the value of heavy base, We get very strong winds here and I wonder how effective it would be in preventing the umbrella with base smashing into sliding glass door. My umbrella has 1 1/2" diameter pole and this base has two plastic rings about 1 in depth that secure to top of stand post allowing the pole to be stabilized by them however when tightening the two bolts on post umbrella is not perfectly straight. The black vinyl base has nice modern lines but it needs improvement for this price. For a few more dollars manufacturer can 1) make base less slippery, 2) increase the length of pole diameter adaptors so support for narrower diameters poles is effective further down, 3) pack the heavy item with more consideration.
It is a heavy duty stand with a good design!

It Is a heavy duty stand. This is my first year using an 11 ft umbrella and in the tilted position it is like having a giant sail that can really put pressure mostly on the umbrella because of its size. I haven't pushed the limits of this stand in heavy wind but I did buy this model with the 80 pound cement version and I feel I made a good choice. I would buy it again!
