This is a very good set of router bits for the beginner or home user. They do not have the quality, strength, or durability of the major (costly or industrial) brands, but they get the job done rather well for some time. If I find I am using a bit again and again, I'll splurge and buy a Whiteside bit to replace the one in this kit. Unfortunately, a single Whiteside bit typically costs two or three times the price of this entire set. Some users complain about the product:
1) The case is cheap and/or arrives broken: Mine arrived in perfect condition and is quite durable. With any reasonable care it should last indefinitely.
2) The bits are very difficult to remove from the case: Instead of being dropped into drilled holes in the wood, the bits are each held in a plastic socket that holds them securely. With a bit of use (or with a bit of lubrication) they remove easily but are still held securely in their socket.
3) The bits are dull, wear out fast, or break: Again, these are not industrial quality bits and need to be treated rather gently. They won't hold up to "hogging out" deep cuts in a single pass (especially in hardwoods), and users need to understand proper feed directions to get smooth cuts. With a bit of experience and careful use, they'll do a very good job for quite some time.

Overall, this set is a great value - attractive price for a very usable assortment of the bits commonly used in woodworking. Would I buy it again? As I said earlier, if I wear out a bit from being often used, I'd replace it with a more costly single bit. If I wear out several bits over time due to infrequent use, I'd buy the set again to refresh my inventory. I'd certainly recommend the set to fellow hobby/home "wood butchers" and I think they'd be happy with the performance.

they work well and good to learn on when using a router is still new. -without a router table mistakes will happen.

I am brand new to routing. I read all the directions, watched several videos, and practiced on scrap wood before beginning my project but still I broke the 1/8" straight bit almost immediately"”I was not taking off too much material. My router was mounted in a table. I later realized that because that bit in particular is so thin, it probably needed extra care and perhaps it was not a good one for a novice to start with. I moved on to the 1/4" straight bit and then the Roman ogee with no problems. I do notice that after a relatively small project, they are not nearly as sharp as they were.

This is a very nice assortment for me as a beginner. I had everything I needed for my first project. I also like the convenient wood case that they come in"”for keeping them organized and they are all nicely labeled with the little picture to show what kind of cutting each bit will do. For a novice, I found that to be very helpful in choosing which bit to use for my project.

I'll have to find a replacement for the 1/8 inch bit that I broke, but otherwise, I am pretty pleased with these bits. My first project looks very professional. I did notice that since I purchased this set, the price has dropped from the $26.92 I paid to $19.95. I'd like the set even more if I had paid the lower price.
