I used this train set to put around my Christmas Village. The only thing I didn't like were the train tracks. They don't snap together very well. That is why I only gave it 4 stars. Otherwise the train set worked for my needs.

Out of the box I was a little underwhelmed. I thought "wow, what a sucker I am. This is worth about $20.00 and not $32." Once I put it together (on the kitchen table because it won't work under the tree) it's actually pretty cute. Runs fast, good sounds. We decided to buy a piece of wood to put on top of the train table (too small to fit in). I think the grandkids will love viewing it. This is not a toy that kids can play/touch. Typical made in China quality.

We now have a small table Christmas tree (we're in our 80's). My husband wanted a running train to go around it. He was delighted with the train set. If you buy this set, and I do recommend it, make sure you can unscrew the engine door. This is where the batteries are located. Enjoy!

Thankfully they add extra parts. Stripped the screw trying the use the teeny tiny screwdriver it came with to open the battery compartment. Thankfully I had another screwdriver that actually worked. Docked a star because of that and because the set is very small overall. Personally, I'd call it a miniature train set. However, my 2 year old absolutely loves it, and it looks adorable around her mini tree. Would've looked silly around our big tree though.
