Learn and understand the device you purchased before condemning it. It's worked for me!

I have one for my left ear which has some hearing loss (about 40%) along with annoying, torturing high frequency tinnitus. My right ear isn't as bad, but I use my cell phone a lot and can't use one with a hearing Amplifier, so I save my right ear for my cell phone. I didn't expect it to help with the tinnitus, but once I PATIENTLY, CALMLY, took my time choosing the best dome for sealing and comfort, selected program #2 to increase the higher levels, I'm missing, then lowered the volume for the best result, which for me is #1 volume. Now I can hear things I haven't heard in a long time, stopped using closed captioning also AND after selecting the best program #2 It has covered at least 60% of the tinnitus! AND, every time I insert it in my ear, there will be a little squealing until it is positioned properly. That's normal. Now instead of asking everyone to repeat themselves, I'm asking them to tone it down! Like I stated.... Give it a chance, learn about the item you purchased. Wisdom is expected to come with age, but nothing was ever said about patience! And remember, this is a hearing AMPLIFIER, you need to program one of the three settings to your need, #1 will increase all sounds around you, #2 increase high frequency, kind of like treble on a stereo, #3 increases lower frequencies, kind of like bass on a stereo. Then go to the lowest volume setting so it doesn't distort the sound. This is not a $5,000 hearing aid programed by a audiologist. Even after everything it set best for you, every time you insert it, there will be a screech until it is positioned properly and you'll hear a screech when you pull it out, this is normal. It's just a temporary feedback. I've has a lot of luck with this, and wished I purchased one years ago.
It really works!

I spent a thousand or two for behind the ear prescription hearing aides, that just didn't do it for me. I wore them religiously for a year, and found them less than comfortable, and allowing me to hear things I didn't want to (behind me), while still missing what I wanted to hear (in front of me). I finally took them out and they have been sitting in the medicine cabinet for two years. Another down side was my clients started asking me when I was going to retire once they saw those things behind my ear. NOT GOOD.
For a couple years I went without, and it was apparent I was missing important things in conversations, and just not really able to interact in family dinners, social gatherings, etc. After the umteenth fight with my wife over the volume of the TV and radio, I knew I had to do something.
Something didn't allow me to spend $5,000 or more on the concealed higher end ones in the ear canal. With the recent FDA approval for other devices on the market, I started Googling and found the BLJ D-L-C2B devices on Amazon.
The price seemed certainly reasonable for giving it a try. I ordered the left from BLj and the right from another vendor thinking I would need two. The left came in Friday. I am still awaiting the right. Anxious, I opened the left on Saturday, and tried to use it.
It takes perseverance to find the right settings for your specific needs. I initially spent 45 minutes in frustration trying to get it to work. Each time high pitch squeals in my ear. I put it aside, and came back to it a couple hours later determined to make it work.
There are a multitude of options for setting. There are 8 separate hearing volumes, 3 separate frequency settings, and 6 different ear domes (cushions or cradles) .
If you don't get the combination right, the feedback (buzzing) is intolerable. I understand the previous reviewer who gave up on his, and stomped it into the ground for satisfaction.
After a couple of hours trying , I settled on the lowest volume, program 2 (middle of the road), and the middle sized cradle with the pull out tail. It became apparent as I was trying all the combinations, and they kept squealing before i put it in my ear.
My Wife and I went out to dinner last night, sitting at a crowded bar, and I could hear most everything she had to say effortlessly for the first time in ages! On a rare occurrence, I would get momentary feedback ( a shrill sound) but just nudge the unit, and it would stop.
Today i wore it out with my family. For some reason, i am getting more feedback today, so I have been doing a fair amount of adjusting, but for every hour of clear hearing, I am wrestling with it for a minute or two.
I am sorry i ordered one for the right ear. The left seems more than enough.
It is not invisible. Looking straight on, most people wont see it, but any side view it is apparent. From my estimation, it is far better than those things hanging behind your ears. Also, It is pretty comfortable. My ear canal was itching last night, but today seems better. I recommend at this point, but if things change, i will update my review later.

Far Surpasses My Original "Hearing Aids" - Great For Professional Performers

The quality of audio processing, features and comfortable in-the-ear size all surpass the several thousand-dollar Oticon in-the-ear custom hearing aids I purchased 10+ years ago. AND...these are far better than two other brands of in-the-ear devices I recently purchased online and returned.
* BLJ Hearing Amps * prove that the technology has advanced impressively! But...as I am not an audiologist, I cannot vouch that these will work for *everyone's* hearing disorders, as those will vary based on your diagnosed condition.
As a former radio personality who always wore headphones cranked at very loud volumes, I was diagnosed with what my Los Angeles audiologist called "Rock 'n Roll Ears" (she also had some VERY well known unnamed rock stars as clients) - 30% hearing loss in both ears, particularly affecting higher frequencies. Now a professional voice-over artist and (senior) actor, I appreciate and need high-quality hearing capability that is accurate and virtually invisible to the camera and live audiences. These excel in both regards.
The Program and Volume control options are exceptional, and allow one to personally customize settings based on frequency range/ambiance and amplification.
I guess modern hearing aids from audiologists offer lots of additional fancy features not offered in these "hearing amps", but for me, BLJ offers everything that I personally require, so I am happy and satisfied.
And, the customer service has been *excellent*. If you need accessories such as replacement domes or wax guards, just message Linda at the BLJ page and she'll respond quickly. Thank you, Linda!
I have now had these for three months, and... so-far, so-good!!!

I've been wearing hearing aids for over 30 years. In the past have gotten the low end $$$ priced aids. I just bought two of the BLJ Hearing Amplifiers. I do get a bit of feedback at times, but I am keeping them because of the great sound quality. They are a true bargain at the price I paid. I have had a moderate hearing loss since I was a child. I've used many pairs of fitted hearing aids over the years and they too, sometimes produce feedback. Even with the slight feedback at times, they are well worth the purchase. My speech recognition has improved tremendously. The sound is as clear a bell. No distortion.
---UPDATE....I believe my feedback problem was because I was using the small, bell-shaped domes. I thought these were the right ones for me. I even requested some additional domes and the seller quickly replied and sent them to me. But I now am using the large dome. With the small dome I was pushing the amplifier too far into my ear. I was getting some feedback. I tried the large dome and did NOT push it quite as far into my ear, and it was very comfortable, PLUS, there is practically NO feedback. I was able to turn the volume up louder, too. This worked for me...maybe this will help someone. I still say, these have super clear sound with no distortion.
---ANOTHER UPDATE....There are 3 "programs" to select. I had been using the first program, which amplifies the higher frequencies. I have since switched to the second (middle) program. It has a little less of the highs and has more of the mid-range. I find this program produces LESS feedback for me, and I can put the volume up one step higher without feedback. It produces a fuller sound. Again, you just have to try these and see what works for you.

The REAL DEAL and WHAT SERVICE!!!

Had tried a cheaper version of this (different seller)... it didn't have selectable EQ or the push-button volume control...
Sent IT back...
Gonna KEEP THIS ONE... The BLJ
Am a Pro Musician, so my hearing IS very important to me...
Last night was the first time I used it on stage... It was perfect... didn't distort (like the cheaper one)... in fact, it's like I don't even have it in my ear (have gone to bed with it in my ear and discovered when my head hit the pillow...lol).
The only thing I modified was the small dome earplug... I cut off the flange and now it is SUPER comfortable (see picture).
This is GREAT... and the REAL DEAL...
As of March 2019... went to the small open-air dome... even MORE comfortable... so comfortable that I forget it's in my ear...
********************************************************************************************************************
WHAT SERVICE...
I had a couple of the aids that stopped working correctly...
Contacted BLJ-Flagship through Amazon and was immediately sent replacements...
As I said before... they WORK so well... and combine that with Customer Service... you really can't go wrong PLUS you can save at least a THOUSAND+ dollars... the BIG PLUS.. selectable EQ...
