I don't think it sealed tight. Steam was coming out of the sides and you could release the top right away

I use this to cook corned beef, whole chicken, etc. It's very important to read and follow all safety instructions and INITIAL ten minutes to proper steam timing. This is a newer model than I was used to. I appreciated the helpful manual.
