What do you expect?

I got this to learn about setup. It's simple. The quality met and I think exceeded all of my expectations. This doesn't sound great, but it doesn't sound bad, and for the money I'd buy it again. I still plan on filing the nut a little, but I've done the other steps as recommended in the reviews, and overall, I'm very happy with the little guitar.
Great value, but do NOT buy this guitar unless you're willing to work on it

This is a fantastic guitar for the price. It's super small so it's great for travel. It needs a serious setup. You cannot buy this and just play. I had to file down the nut. I had to file down the bridge. I had to file down a few of the frets. I had to adjust the bridge to the right spot.

This is all stuff you would want done for any guitar, but most you buy are going to be at least close to being playable when you buy. This guitar is not.

BUT, if you know what to do or want to pay someone $40 to setup your $40 guitar, this is a fantastic guitar. It's small. It travels very well. It's way less expensive than other travel guitars. And if you do it right, it has a kind of banjo-ish sound that I kinda dig.

This is the kind of guitar you want to take to the park, on the train, in a backpack while you ride your bike, or wherever else that you might not otherwise take a guitar with you. I am super happy with my purchase because I was able to work on it to set it up properly. Now it stays in tune and the intonation is good.
Great guitar if you're willing to do some work on it first!

Be sure to read the reviews before buying this! This is definitely NOT playable the way it is shipped! But I read the reviews and decided I wanted to try my hand at making the necessary adjustments. I made the adjustments based on others' reviews and a few YouTube videos and after an hour or two I had a pretty nice playable guitar! I got it to a) practice guitar adjustments before trying it on my more expensive guitars and b) maybe take as a luxury item while hiking. I definitely got what I wanted! And in case you're wondering, the weight of just the guitar (no case or strap) is 1lb 9.3oz.
I love this little guitar

As others have said, not exactly for beginners. It's going to take some setup work to get it to a state that's fun to play. Once I filed some height off the nut and the bridge, adjusted the bridge slots and glued it in to place at the correct intonation it plays great. The action is still a bit high and I wish it came with side dots(a quick fix) but other than that it's great. Sanded everything down to a satin finish, filed the poly off the frets and polished them up, put in a set of extra light Martin strings and it sounds like a pretty nice ukulele.
Works well for the price.

It's very nice for the price. I had to modify the nut, the peace of nylon plastic on the head of the neck, it was too high so sanded it down a bit on a flat surface 1/16 of an inch. Works great now.
