My boyfriend and I were in desperate need of a new mattress. I struggle to call our previous sleeping situation a mattress. It was a highly overpriced king-sized 5" memory foam mattress that was way too soft and so thin, in some positions, I could feel the slats underneath.

We are medium-sized sleepers- I'm 5'9" 176 lbs / He's 6'2" 170 lbs. We're primarily side-sleepers, tend to sleep hot, and were experiencing pretty noticeable back, hip, and shoulder pains coupled with brutal fatigue throughout the day.

I did tons of research when looking for our new mattress. We prioritized Pressure Relief, Support, and an Affordable Price. We do not like the typical memory foam feel of sinking in sand but love a comfortable plush feel that contours to our body as we settle in. The Nod Hybrid has 2 inches of T+N Adaptive foam on top, 1 inch of slow recovery foam, a layer of 6-inch pocket coils, and a 1-inch base foam. My partner and I liked the idea of having the best of both worlds, so we decided on the Nod Hybrid for its claims of having a medium-soft feel with pressure-relieving support at an affordable price.

After placing our order, it arrived in 2 days in a super heavy box (95lbs), which we had to carry up 3 flights of stairs because of contactless delivery. It is definitely a 2 person job handling this mattress! Once getting it out of the box and cutting the plastic, it took shape in a matter of seconds, expanding to its full 10" depth. We didn't find there to be any noticeable or offensive smell and I'd say the whole unboxing process took us about 20 mins.

The first few nights sleeping on the mattress, I honestly thought it was a little on the firmer side. We had terrible body pains for the first couple days but I realized that was from bringing the package up the stairs- it's really heavy y'all. However, after about 3 days of breaking it in, we started to realize how magical this mattress really is!

Pros: We've been sleeping on this mattress for 15 nights now and we couldn't feel better! No midday fatigue, no severe body aches, sleeping through the night. The 2 inches of T+N foam contours to our bodies within seconds of laying down. The 10-inch depth makes me feel like I'm floating when I get into bed. The individual wrapped coils also give this mattress excellent edge support, a friend and I sat on the edge and had a 2 hr conversation, never having to move or adjust to get comfortable! Its firm enough to support you when sitting up, yet soft enough to cradle your curves when laying down. It also feels great while laying on your back! The bed itself has a super aesthetically pleasing heathered gray textured cover that's soft and cozy to the touch. Plus, it's removable, perfect for washing away any spills or stains!

Cons: We still sleep a little hot, it could be from the sheets or blankets but nonetheless my boyfriend still sweats a bit at night. Also, this mattress could seem firmer to lighter-weight sleepers (>150 lbs). And to mention it once again its pretty heavy, even once out the box, lifting the mattress is a doozy.

Overall: I'm obsessed with this bed! We have noticed incredible changes in our energy levels and our ability to focus throughout the day. I have been more limber in my workouts. We work from home a lot and find ourselves gravitating to the bed periodically to get cozy while we work. We may invest in a pillow topper, just to add an inch more of plushness but overall, truly in love! We hope to have it for years, hoping it will get even better with time!

I have had this 8" mod mattress for a year and a half now. I absolutely love it! I have never had another mattress I've liked better. I used to buy $1000+ mattresses from mattress firm and other stores. This was my first time ordering a "bed in a box." I ordered a couple different ones off amazon and liked this one the best. Amazon was great with retuning the others that didn't work. I got the king size nod and it is true to size and height. When you first get it, it takes a while to expand to it's full size. After a year and a half it is as good as new and still feels and looks the same. There's NO weird indentions or what my husband and I jokingly call "ditches" lol. In other words the original form is in no way compromised after using it every night for a year and a half. Both my husband and I love it. It's a medium firmness in my opinion. My husband likes a soft bed and I like a firm bed, this was a happy medium. When you lay down it has a little give, but not too much. I have horrible back problems and I sleep so much better on this mattress than I have on any $1000+ serta or what have you. Once upon a time I had a tempurpedic, it was way too hot! This Nod mattress is NOT hot in my experience. Even when I was pregnant and had hormonal sweating this did not make me hot. I'm a very hot natured person too so it's very important to me that my mattress doesn't add to that problem! With other memory foam mattresses I've had, I had to even change clothes during the night, not fun!! I definitely think the comfort and quality of this mattress is comparable to other high quality expensive memory foam mattresses, if not better! Like I mentioned I had to give away the tempurpedic (spelling?) due to it being way too hot! I would highly recommend this mattress to anyone really. I think it accommodates a lot of people due to its adaptive nature and medium feel. I think a medium firmness suits many different people and situations. It's definitely not in any way a hard bed so if you are used to a soft bed, don't let the word medium firmness scare you! I can sleep on a more firm bed (due to my back issues) but this works fine for me even though it's a little softer! I am a stomach sleeper and my husband is a side and back sleeper. It works well for both of us. He is 220lbs and I am 130lbs and we both love it. It's not easy to find a good bed for a stomach sleeper but this one is a winner! I would definitely recommend this to pregnant ladies, or hot sleepers as well! I also think this would work great for a child, toddler or guest bedroom as well. It's sure to suit any guest who would come to stay over! Our kids love the bed as well. We eventually are going to order nod beds for their rooms.

Oh and also if anyone was wondering I 100% purchased this mattress with MY OWN money and no I am not getting paid for this review or any other type or compensation! This is an honest review of someone who spent their hard earned money on this bed! My father is actually buying one for himself for Christmas because he loves our bed so much! He has lupus and is in the market for a bed that will make him very comfortable!

Good luck and remember if it doesn't work out amazon prime is really easy to return it! Just leave the bed outside your door and they come and get it! I hope my review was helpful to someone out there. I know ordering a bed online is hard. Look up some YouTube reviews, they really help!

2nd update after a couple of months use:
I now really love the mattress. It has softened a bit and it no longer makes me feel sore. My boyfriend has LOVED this mattress from the first night he slept on it but he weighs far more than I do so that may be the key. It might just be perfect for heavier sleepers from the start. I will say that it doesn't really have great side support if that matters to you... I don't care about that as much as I thought I would, really. I just want a supportive, comfortable bed where I can get a good night sleep and this is now the perfect mattress! Maybe it took a little time to soften or maybe I just needed to get used to the firmness after sleeping on a conventional pillow top. But the bottom line is that I love it now and wanted to let you know... I'm going to change my review to 5 stars!

If you want a very firm mattress this may be what you're looking for.
It's been over a month and it's not much better. I really REALLY want to like this mattress but I'm sore all the time now, especially in the morning right when I get up. It's the firmest bed I've ever had. When I lie on my side my hand falls asleep and my fingers tingle. I have wide shoulders and hips and a small waist so maybe I just need a softer pillow top mattress to fill in the gaps. I may look into returning it soon... for reference I am 5'4" and about 135lbs , mostly in my hips and thighs. Maybe that makes a difference. Also, another annoyance is that the side compresses to the side bed rail when you sit on the very edge.

I bought 3 of these mattresses for my new house. All are on platform beds.
I've never had a hybrid or memory foam mattress, only traditional mattresses. The king bed got lost in delivery somewhere so I had to wait an extra week for that one so I slept on one of the full beds... it was wonderful. Super comfortable and I was happy I decided to venture into the hybrid world.
Fast forward a week to when my king bed arrived... it is so SO FIRM... I can sleep on almost anything so I decided I would just get used to it. First day... I had weird left forearm and hand pain... strange, wasn't sure what that was about... second day the exact same thing started on the other arm and hand... that eased a bit but by the end of the week my leg and foot started to hurt.. I immediately recognized that as sciatica, which I've had before from a pinched inflamed nerve in my lower spine. Dr says the mattress is just way too firm and the arm/hand pain is the same thing, just higher in the spine. I'm super sore and stiff when I get up in the morning too which has never happened before. I've gone back to sleeping on the full (exact same mattress) and everything is calming down. Why is the king bed so so much firmer? If it doesn't soften up a bit soon I'll have to return for something else... it's a shame because the fulls are wonderful.

This mattress is firmer than what the description leads you to believe. I'm a heavy guy, 300 lbs; I felt like I was sleeping on the floor with a thin topper.

for three years i had a cheaper, good quality mattress but it was just way too firm for me. it wouldn't give at all, so i put a topper on. cue the start of back problems! those toppers are incredibly comfortable but over time they really do put so much stress on your back and hips. i would wake up in pain every day and it would be so difficult to get out of bed. this tuft & needle mattress is game changing!! it's the perfect level of firmness where you don't sink into the bed, you can still get out of bed, but it's still comfortable and provides the best level of support. it's only been two nights but i can already feel such a huge difference in my sleep quality and restfulness.
