The item was as described. My niece was very content upon receipt. She's using it to make papaya salad. It's great for making dipping sauces and other Thai food. Thankfully, it arrived without damage. It's sturdy and reminds us of home. Note, papaya salad not included.

I bought the 6.75 inch mortar pestle and I believe this makes a good size if you're making Thai Som Tum for 1 person. The shipping time was very quick, about a week. The only thing that I didn't like was how rough one side of the mortar was, so I had to smoothen it out with some sandpaper. Otherwise, it's all good. Easy to clean, easy to use, not heavy at all, and I highly recommend it

This is exactly what I wanted. I had a small Mexican molcajete, but it is not big enough for papaya salad and things always slop out the side. This is perfect. I can't wait to make a curry. I'm so excited! I also was using a food processor that does well for somethings but it does not pound food into the same texture as the Thai mortar and pestle.
