Great for getting around.
Sturdy well designed Knee Scooter...beware, not so good on open pavement though!

I got this knee scooter the day after my foot surgery, it was pretty easy to assemble quickly - even my wife who is not mechanically inclined figured most of it out within minutes. The only confusing part for her was the locking lever on the front of the Vive scooter (metal hand with a spring screw)...she wasn't sure how it worked.
The key is to first pull the handle vertically so it fits over the bracket, next rotating down where the handle bottom faces down (see photos).

After building it, we put on the Vive knee cushion (HIGHLY RECOMMEND as the seat is not very cushiony) I had ordered separately onto the seat and we were off and running. It is very stable and keeps its balance fairly well in turns. The brakes work well, but they are just a metal plate (see photo) that bears down on the polyurethane wheels...so braking can be somewhat less than smooth if you are going at any speed (ie. downhill). Both brake handles operate the same metal plate against both back wheels (no brakes on front wheels which is good - don't want to flip forward!) so it doesn't matter which brake you engage. You can LOCK the brake in place which his a GREAT feature using a spring loaded metal pin (see photo) - you just have to squeeze the brake handle pretty good to ensure the pin can be pushed down and stay engaged properly.

Warning - pavement not as good as in your house. Probably goes without saying but if you're on polyurethane wheels like this Vive scooter has, every rock, pebble, acorn, gap in the sidewalk has the potential to make your handle jump to one side or the other depending on which wheel hit it. That means its pretty slow going if you see any rough pavement, dirty pavement, gappy sidewalks, textured bump ramps (many handicap ramps are ribbed), etc. If thats a show stopper for you and you aren't a careful person outside - opt for a more expensive "off-road" air tire version of the knee scooter. Otherwise, if you take it slow...it won't be the greatest ride, but at least you can make it through the road junk without sending your scooter flying to one side or another. I did ride this scooter in the rain (not by choice mind you) and it performed very well..didn't slide everywhere and this is where those metal brakes actually worked better. lol

The bag....what a lifesaver. This knee scooter came with a nice nylon removable lightweight knapsack type bag complete with a shoulder strap. I was able to shuffle around my house putting food, drinks, my laptop, cell phone, etc etc. and get from place to place. Just a very nice touch to be included with the scooter. The only knock? Well the mount bracket is two metal prongs that you have to slide a very very narrow nylon attachment on the bak over the metal prongs to hang it (see pic). Meh...its a pain in the keister to get it on. But I plan to just add some industrial velcro onto that nylon area and just velcro strap it onto the handle - presto instant upgrade. :)

This scooter is not "lightweight" per se at roughly 25 lbs...but it does have a collapsable handle. Disengaging that metal locking braket mechanism allows you to fold down the handle (turn the wheel to get it past the seat then rotate it back to the center after it clears the seat). I wish they had provided a strap to allow you to then strap in the folded handle against the seat...but alas, nothing a little trip to the store for a velcro strap to make it betta. This will fit folded in most larger sedans back seats, trunks, and certainly in any SUV/Minivan or taxi with a deep trunk.

Final thoughts: Great scooter, sturdy, more of an indoor device but can easily be used outdoors if you take it slow over pavement/sidewalks. If they had offered this with air tires without charging an arm and let I might have gone that route but as it is, for the $130+ bucks I paid...this is a good investment. Second foot surgery...here I come!
Vive Knee Walker gave me the freedom to be mobile!

Vive Knee Walker gave me the freedom to be mobile even with the doctor's order to be non-weight bearing for a minimum of 12 weeks. I had my R-foot reconstruction surgery 5 years ago and I was told not to put any weight on my foot for 3 months, which turned into 5 months of living in a recliner. This August the left foot needed the same reconstructive surgery and once again I was told not to put weight on the foot for 3 months minimum. By week 3, I was dreading the thought of my butt being glued to the recliner for several months. My wife saw the knee walker on Amazon.com and ordered it. What a difference it made with my attitude. I was mobile again and able to "scoot" around the house with freedom. This walker was made sturdy enough to accommodate my 6'1" frame 220 lb weight, and the 8 inch wheels provided stability and the ability to move around even through narrow doorways. Take a breather recliner, I'm on the move again!!
Very Sturdy!!

This is my second knee scooter. I chose this one for price, and the reviews. I am on the shorter side (5') and was hoping this scooter would fit me like my first one. It doesn't. As low as the knee rest goes, it is still about an inch and a half too tall. So.... I ordered a "booster" for my other shoe to see how well that helps. I will say this scooter is much nicer in difficult terrain, such as our Minnesota winter's snow and slush, and the dirt aisles in the barn. This is my "going out" scooter because it is sturdier. Over all, I am happy I have the two scooters - one for inside and one for outside (I certainly don't want salt or barn dirt in my house), and this one, even though a bit tall for me, fits the bill very nicely.
Provides Independence

This has been my lifesaver. I recently had hammer toes surgery and initially tried using crunches. But I do not have the strength to handle them adequately, so I constantly needed help to move around. Since I have this "scooter" I am almost independent, giving me the capability of moving all around the house, even through small spaces, including the bathroom. I have even been able to shower with no help to get inside and out of the shower. The knee pad is comfortable enough to move around but not to use it for a long period of time. The breaks help me when I am getting up from chairs to the "scooter" providing stability. I love the bag; I use it to transport anything from one place to another and I also use it in place of my purse when going to my medical appointments. It has a shoulder strap, a mesh pocket on each side (which I use to carry my phone and medicine) and the fact that it is removable is great. The only things I would improve are: even though it has a lock to be used for the breaks, it requires to pull very hard the manual break to put it on the right position; and a better steering wheel rotation range. But I would still buy this scooter again.
