I got this to keep sun off face and neck while I was on duty at school. It's stiff enough and bucket shaped to help avoid being blown off in the wind. The ventilation seems to help keep my head cool. Color is nice and neutral.

As others have mentioned, there is a chemical smell to the hats but I don't find it overly offensive. It's possibly from the treatment to make it water repellent.Probably putting it in front of a supply register if you have forced air heating and cooling will help dissipate the smell. I'm going to hang the two I bought in the basement at a forced air register to try to dissipate the smell.

The crease through the sides of the hat does look strange when you first look at it but I found that it helps keep the back of the hat down so it covers your neck and if you're out in the rain, it may keep the rain from running down inside your shirt.

As for hats of this type blowing off, put the chin strap behind your ears, then under your chin and tighten it to a comfortable position. It won't stop them from blowing around in high winds but it should help in lesser winds.

The fit of the hat is very comfortable for me and I'm not much of a hat person but after some skin cancer surgery, I'm doing everything possible to minimize too many recurrances of the cancer. It's a shame I didn't take more precautions 70 years ago.

I purchased two of these hats in different colors, a darker one for working in the yard and a lighter on for when I'm out walking and shooting still images and videos.

Time will tell how durable the hats are and if there is a problem with the way the chin strap is fastened to the hat.

Overall, for the price, I think the hat is fine and would recommend it.

I ordered three sun hats recently. This is my favorite of the three. It provides good coverage. It's comfortable, has ventilation and is adjustable. The lanyard is sturdy and has a good adjustment slider.

Good coverage from the sun fit well have adjustment for snug or loose fit. Washable with no degradation. I have 3 of these and they get rotated in their use so I wash one about once a week. Let them air dry and always have good sun protection available.

Good hat but bulky for travelling. I bought this hat for my summer Europe trip when standing in line in the very hot sun for attractions, restaurants, buses, etc but although it folds in half, it's still bulky and took up a lot of space in my travel backpack every time I took it off. When I wore it, it was great. It was durable, stayed on well and did its job. But next time I'm going to look for a softer hat that takes less space when folded because the hat spends lots of time time in my backpack whenever I enter an establishment, train, bus, etc so I want a less bulky hat. The crease in the hat where it folds is also too pronounced and visible.
