A cheap USB hub caused my computer to not recognize connected devices when disconnecting and reconnecting. I am a musician using software instruments with Camelot and reconnecting devices in a way that allows the laptop to identify the unique device is critical. This USB hub immediately fixed my issues. I have two: one for office and one for the stage. High quality and works great!

External power supply is good. I like the on/off switch for each port. I can't seem to ever have enough USB ports. This really helped me. I hope it lasts a while...

I ran out of USB ports an didn't want to use a passive hub. This unit power from the wall, the data cable plugs into they computer, and you have 10 ports available, each switched. This relieves the strain from the PC's power supply. I use all 10 of these ports with tablets, cell phones, a GPS, wireless mouse and keyboard, a webcam, and a flashlight. I also got a plastic desktop organizer for letters and such and use that as a holder for all the devices, and a bunch of 6 inch cables to run from the USB strip to the devices.
