Setup was a breeze. While choosing my desired settings, it was clear this dash cam is high quality compared to others I've owned. It feels durable and well made and the video quality is excellent. Before the first trip, however, I ran into a snag. I could not wake up the camera after the screensaver kicked in. I was initially very frustrated, disappointed, and ready to leave a bad review but I took another look at the instruction manual instead and found a reset button and used it. After that, no problems at all, but I turned off the screensaver just to be safe. As it turns out, that issue might not have actually happened at all. Confused? Check this out... Through the lenses of my particular sunglasses, I cannot see the video at all, no matter how hard or closely I look, but I can see the video just fine without my sunglasses. So that issue I had? I'm pretty sure I was wearing my sunglasses and that was the cause, but I'm not 100% certain on that. Idk if this is a safety feature to prevent distractions while driving or a happy accident with whatever type of screen protector they put on this thing. Obviously it would only be effective during the day, when people usually wear sunglasses. I've yet to drive with it at night, so I can't comment of the night vision capabilities yet, but so far, I'm impressed.

Update: The main reason I got this particular unit was for the advertised heat resistance and it has held up remarkably well in the Arizona summer heat compounded by being in a hot car for over a week. The night vision is actually pretty good as well. The main problem I've had with this unit is the motion detection. It needs to be more sensitive. I've had cars and people pass right next to me and sometimes the motion detection does not pick it up. Other times I've had the motion detection stop recording a mere ten seconds after it picked up movement. This happened a few times sitting at a red light when the intersection wasn't that busy. This is potentially really bad if someone hit me at that moment or some other incident occurred. I've also had the unit turn off and on for no apparent reason even though it is receiving constant power. Lastly, any time it randomly resets or you open up the menu for any reason, or you hit the"OK" button to manually start recording, it automatically turns off the motion detection so you have to make sure to turn the motion detection back on EVERY SINGLE TIME. If you rely on the motion detection, you have to check it before you start driving just to be sure it didn't go back to the default off setting. Because of these things, I am knocking off one star. I am very tempted to knock off two stars but I'll hold off unless something else negative comes to light.
The backup camera, however, works great provided you can position it exactly right. That requires a lot of back and forth to check the image. I still haven't perfected it's position yet. It would also be beneficial to add two more screw holes on the back so you could flip the unit upside down to choose between positioning it upside down or right side up. I made my own and so far it has worked out well.

One more update:
I've been using this dash cam for about a year and a half and it has held up well. One last thing I've noticed about this dash cam: Yes, it does automatically start recording when you turn the car on if you have that option turned on in the settings, but not always. Here is the exception: as you may know, this camera has a loop recording feature allowing it to automatically record over the oldest non-locked video. Sooner or later, depending on the size of your SD card, the card will run out of space. When that happens, the camera has a pop-up notification that your SD card is full. You will then have to manually start recording at the beginning of your trip to bypass that notification (picture included). It basically depends on the size of the last video file when you turned your car off. If it's shorter than average, it leaves just enough space on the SD card to allow the auto record function to start up normally. It's annoying, but sooner or later you will just have to get into the habit of double checking that it is recording as it is supposed to.
Great deal for the price

It's not the best dash cam in the world but it works. In my car it's hooked to a circuit that comes on when I start the car and turns off when I shut the engine down. That means I never have to think about. It saved me once when some one backed into my car and then insisted I pay to fix his car. With the video he knew that he was totally at fault and that I could prove it. Another time a car ran a stop sign and hit someone on a bicycle. The driver claimed the cyclist was at fault. I could hear the argument from my car and told them I was going to mail the video to the cyclist, which I did. The driver ceased to argue. I love this thing

I like this camera. The first one was defective, I was able to return it and get another one. Two weeks later I finally installed it. I like the camera and it's quality. Shortly after putting the camera on someone ran into my car. And I was able to catch it on camera. It definitely comes in handy I would say. The wires are so long but I understand why. Overall I would recommend this product.
Not all features work properly or together.

We have two vehicles and because of how they are designed it matters for this review! One has power outlets that are powered all the time, regardless of whether the vehicle is running or not. The other only powers the outlets when the vehicle is running or the key is in the ACC position. Now I will list the pros first since there are only a few.

Pros:
It comes with two mounts. A suction cup and an adhesive mount.
It comes with a rear camera that can also function as a backup camera.
It has very good picture quality.
It can be set to record in various clips up to 5 minutes in length.

Cons on the vehicle with always-on power outlets:
If you have it in video record mode it will never power off automatically. You must manually stop the record mode or manually turn off the camera and that presents its own issue! The automatic motion detection, parking lot mode, and impact detection only work if the camera is in standby mode which cannot happen if you power the camera off. It cannot detect the voltage drop when starting the vehicle so it does not power up on it's own. In short, on this vehicle, everything requires user input.

Pros and Cons on the vehicle with power outlets that only work when the key is on:
There is only one pro, but its also a con! The camera powers on and off with the ignition. It's a pro because I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn it off and eventually killing the car battery if left running a couple of days. It's a con because none of the automated security features work unless the camera is in standby mode which cannot happen unless the outlet has power all of the time! So, no parking lot mode, no motion detection, no impact detection.

Additional cons:
The rear camera is meant to be mounted on the outside of the vehicle above the license plate. It does not come with any type of rear window or rear shelf mount. This requires you to drill a hole in your rear hatch or trunk lid to mount the camera and a fairly large (about a 1/4") hole for the wiring! If you want the automatic backup camera feature to work, then you also have to splice the red wire into the power wire on one of the reverse lamp sockets. Depending on where your lamps are mounted (body vs trunk lid or hatch) that can be a pain in the butt. Also if your vehicle has a lamp outage monitor it may cause the lamp outage warning light to come on in the instrument cluster every time you back up. Does NOT come with a SIM card. You have to buy one. You are going to need more than the 32GB card they require and you are going to need a way to reformat the card to Fat 32.

Now for the most annoying con of all: The SD card has to be pushed in past flush! Unless you have extra long fingernails you will always need a dime or something else you can use as a tool to install or remove the card. Very inconvenient.

It may be possible to fabricate your own interior mount for the rear camera, but who wants to do that?

The only reason I didn't rate this camera lower than 4 stars is because of the picture quality, physical quality of the main camera and the fact you get two cameras for a very good price. I actually did buy a second one for the other vehicle that only has active power outlets when the key is on even knowing all of the above based on my experience with the first vehicle. I will eventually find a way to mount the rear camera on the inside, I'm just not in the mood to do so yet.

I recently purchased the Front and Rear CHORTAU Dual Dash Cam 3 inch for my car, and I must say, it has completely exceeded my expectations. This dual dash cam has become an indispensable companion for all my road trips. Here's why I think it's an outstanding product:

1. Crystal Clear Recording: The video quality of both the front and rear cameras is remarkable. The 1080p resolution captures every detail with impressive clarity. Even during low-light conditions, the night vision mode ensures that the footage remains clear and usable.

2. Wide Viewing Angle: The wide-angle lenses provide an extensive view of the road ahead and behind, reducing blind spots and ensuring that all critical moments are captured. It's especially useful for capturing scenic routes or potential incidents on the road.

3. Seamless Loop Recording: The loop recording feature ensures that I never run out of storage space. The oldest recordings are automatically overwritten, eliminating the hassle of manually managing the memory card.

4. G-Sensor for Incident Detection: The built-in G-sensor has proven to be a lifesaver. It automatically detects sudden movements or impacts and locks the footage, preventing it from being overwritten. This feature provides invaluable evidence in case of accidents.

5. User-Friendly Interface: The 3-inch display is the perfect size for quickly reviewing footage or adjusting settings. Navigating through the menus and playback is intuitive, even for someone who's not tech-savvy.

6. Easy Installation: Setting up the CHORTAU Dual Dash Cam was a breeze. The included suction cup mount securely holds the cameras in place, and the provided cables are of good quality. I had it up and running within minutes.

7. Parking Mode: The parking mode is a game-changer for those concerned about their car's safety while parked. The dash cam switches to standby mode but activates and records whenever it detects motion nearby. This adds an extra layer of security to my vehicle.

8. Value for Money: Considering the features and performance, the CHORTAU Dual Dash Cam offers exceptional value for its price. It's a cost-effective way to enhance safety and accountability while driving.

In conclusion, the Front and Rear CHORTAU Dual Dash Cam 3 inch has proven itself as a reliable and feature-packed dash cam system. Its impressive video quality, user-friendly interface, and useful features like loop recording, G-sensor, and parking mode make it an essential addition to any vehicle. Whether you're a frequent road tripper or just looking to enhance your driving safety, this dash cam is a wise investment that I wholeheartedly recommend.
