THe FINEST grinder that I have ever owned - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Edward S.✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 5, 2023
This is, without any doubt or equivocation, the finest grinder that I have ever owned. It is certainly a tremendous value especially at the sale price at which I purchased the item.

It is noisy! However, I would be noisy too if the first thing that I had to do each morning was to fill my mouth with coffee beans and then, with my teeth, grind up enough for a couple of pots of coffee.

Trust me on this, I would be howling, and growling, and barking out a LITANY of profane epithets, unceasingly!!

There are settings for volume of bean to be ground in order to meet the liquid demands, and enough settings to grind the beans precisely as I like them. This setting, obviously, will be determined by the coffee blend as well as the apparatus that is employed to tackle this task. Along with the preferential whims of the human behind the magic!! Quality coffee brewing is NOT a task for the faint at heart. Their very state of emotional and physical wellness may depend upon their level competence, passion, and level of expertise, that are mandated by the task of conjuring up that precious morning commodity :)

The machine has a very large bay into which I poor the appropriate amount of product, being careful not to overfill beyond my immediate need. The machine has an exceptionally large bean capacity. I use one heaping coffee measuring scoop per cup of coffee. Subsequently, I fill the bean bay up 2/3 of the way. This is the maximum amount of grounds that the coffee ground catch basket will hold. Furthermore, the filters won't accommodate beyond that ... at all!!!

I no longer subscribe to the old men's tales that the consumption of a combination of slices of hockey puck look'n toast, dipped into a 12 oz. cauldron of spoon dissolving coffee, that has the same color, flavor, and texture as the aforementioned toast, will put hair on my chest.

Lastly, the negligible amount of finely ground coffee that escapes the clutches of the grounds receptacle is hardly worth mentioning. I utilize the grinder as it sits on either a dish rag, or dish towel. This completely alleviates any concerns of coffee dust on my counters. It also absorbs all of the vibration of the grinder on the counter, which effectively lowers the decibel level of the grinding process.

As well designed and crafted as this grinder is, again, I genuinely believe that it is going to outlast me!! Hence, it will be welcome an appropriate comrade to accompany the KOFFEE tamper that I use to PACK the grounds into the filter.

The end result of this entire process is DARK STRONG, BLACK, HOT KOFFEE!!

Yep, and it all starts with, and depends upon, my trusty Krups Precision Flat Burr Grinder :)
This grinds beans perfectly, according to one's taste in coffee strength

There is nothing about this grinder I don't like! Sure, it could be smaller but then it would not hold enough beans. I found after a couple of grinds what I liked in the way of strength produced, which was very much on the rich side. That is determined by the grinder adjustment on the side, and the number of cups dial on the front. So all I have to do now is hit the start button (making sure that there are beans in the hopper) and wait for it to finish. Then load the grounds into the Krups drip brewer, 6 or 7 minutes later I have great, consistent, rich coffee, even with decaf beans, every time.
A good starter grinder

This is my first burr grinder, so I don't have much else to compare it to. I bought it to grind beans for my espresso machine, and I'm very happy with the grind size. It produces a fine grind for espresso, and the grind size is pretty even. I don't really experience the problem with the grinds flying everywhere, which was mentioned in some other reviews. The grinds to kind of stick to the side of the container, but if I just give it a good tap on the counter before taking off the lid I don't have a mess. My only and biggest problem is that the hopper where you put the whole beans is not removable, and thus very hard to clean. Some dust and grinds do get trapped in there, and it's impossible for me to clean it out without tipping the whole thing over. This also makes it difficult to empty out any extra beans that don't get ground up. If your setup ends up maxing out the power cord length like mine, this is really hard to clean. If the hopper was removable, this would be PERFECT. Either way, this is a very good grinder for the price. If you're getting this to find out if burr grinders really do make a difference in the taste and quality of your coffee, this machine is the perfect choice.
Very good grinder

This grinder replaced the Cuisinart grinder i have been using for about a year. This is a much better grinder and ground an accurate amount of coffee for the cups you are brewing. I highly recommend.
Wow, what a difference in my coffee!

I thought I was a coffee snob because I haven't met a cup of drip coffee that I like. I use an Aeropress and was grinding my coffee beans in a small blade grinder. Then I met a true coffee snob who tried to convince me that I needed to roast my own beans and use a burr grinder. I am not that person. The roasting experiment brought my husband and the neighbor kid rushing to the house to make sure it wasn't on fire as the smoke poured out the kitchen window. I dismissed the burr grinder as well, not finding one that fit in my cupboard, that didn't have plenty of negative product reviews, or wasn't ridiculously expensive. Then I tried this one. Granted, I've only had it a short time, but every cup of coffee is so reliably good, and better than I'd been making before. Pick your grind level, pick the number of cups, press the start button. Never any bitterness, every cup amazing. Not sure the number of cups setting makes sense, since you're not supposed to leave coffee beans in the grinder area for over 24 hours, so I measure in my beans, but if you're making multiple pots frequently (or larger pots than I use) then it will make sense. I'll have to see how it performs with a Chemex. Have not cleaned the grinder area yet, so can't attest to how easy that is to clean. It's too tall to fit into my coffee cupboard, but it's earned its place on the countertop. So glad to have this!
