This little machine is amazing! It does everything I need it too. Family members are just as impressed. Great price for a little machine that gives great results. Highly recommend!

This is a great tool for looking at coins, bills and whatever else you have. It works perfectly, the adjustment on it are smooth and easy to use. Love it.

My intention was to use the coin microscope for viewing coins. For this, it is fine with the coin on the stage. The magnification is good, the focus is sharp, and the image looks good on a small screen at 720p. In practice, the distance between the lens and the subject changes the magnification. Adjusting focus is done with the silver knob on the lens barrel.

Note that to see a whole coin, the lens must be raised well above the stage. This can be done by turning the camera around and raising the stage on top of something stable. Weight should also be set on the stage so the whole device doesn't tip over because it will be out of balance with the camera reversed.

Unfortunately, when the camera is raised sufficiently to view a whole coin, the light levels drop off from the 8 LEDs and the image becomes distorted. A circular coin is rendered as a very noticeably horizontally stretched oval. Perhaps this can be corrected if the image is saved and edited on a computer, but for video, it is not acceptable IMHO.

Conclusion is that this device works well with subjects on stage and at the range of magnification available by adjusting the camera's height. For its cost, it is a good value. For viewing and photographing coins, say to make a personal collection log, it leaves much to be desired.

How about this as a gift for somebody who collects costume jewelry with very teeny tiny little markings that they've been trying to read with an unlit jewelers loop for years. Obviously this can be very difficult to do especially if the jewelry is tarnished or dirty.

I spent around 30 bucks on this thing hoping that maybe it could do a little bit of good in replacing the jewelers loop.

I was honestly shocked when this thing arrived and we started messing around with it. The qualities amazingly good for the price. While the base of the unit and the adjustable microscope may not be the highest quality plastic, The main camera and display are very well done. You can get incredibly well zoomed in and the light that shines from the scope is perfect. The display is very clear for something like this and allows you to see every detail even the smallest marking on a piece of jewelry like a 14 karat stamp they can sometimes otherwise be very tiny.

The battery life is great and it's rechargeable. It has an SD slot so you can actually take pictures. This is great if you resell things online and you want to get really close up shots that are high quality you can use for your listings.

Like I said above I was amazed at how good this thing is and now I'm finding that I'm borrowing the microscope and using it for all sorts of things. I got a metal slipper in my pinky, that was so tiny I couldn't see it with a magnifying glass. I use this thing and was able to clearly see and extract the tiniest metal sliver I think I've ever seen. That alone was worth the price of admission.

Bought this for my grandfather for his birthday/christmas. He uses it nearly daily and he loves it! Compliments how easy it was to figure out and to use, along with the battery life. Pretty durable. Very good product for the price!!
