The media could not be loaded. I had an electric pepper mill that I loved - it had silicone (or something similar) on the area that you would grab. It was awesome. But then I started needing to change the batteries more and more often and the silicone area got kind of tacky - I originally would just wipe it off with my dish rag and it was fine but once it got tacky I tried more soap and then other cleaners but it did not help. So I've been looking around and found these. I really like the stainless steel. My last grinder never let me get the pepper very fine and this set seems to let me set it to a finer setting. I did not think I would need/care for the LED light - but I do like it! The majority of the time I do not even know it is there but the first time I used them and the lighting was not good in the kitchen - these lit up and I could see how much was actually coming out - I was impressed with the lights then. :) They take 4 AA batteries - I have only been using them about a week and I am hoping to get a year + out of the batteries so we shall see. This set does not come with a tray for them to sit in but that is okay with me. They do have caps on the ends which I sometimes forget to take off and for a second wonder why the salt or pepper is not coming out. I have not decided yet if I will continue to use the caps but it is nice to have the option. If I have any major changes in my opinion I will try to update my review.

UPDATE: I took a star off - While I still really like them - the one I have pepper in does not always work so I have to hit it into my palm a few times to get it started. So far that is working, I'm not sure if the pepper corns are too hard?? or my batteries are already getting low. But I only used it about 3 weeks or so before it started acting up and I don't want to change batteries that often (and they weren't the cheaper batteries).

this are a must if you have RA or other problems with hands... I love fresh ground pepper and salt but my hands were getting to the point of not being able to make them work to use... this set is top of the line, and no work envolved to use.. take off bottom cap and push bottom on top... Love this time .. A must on our dinner table for sure ..

Just got these today, the instructions were on the box which were easy to follow, comes with a little funnel that fits it perfect for easy entry. My glass/acrylic has a very small hairline fracture in it but it comes with a year warranty and was easy to set that up with the QR code provided. After playing around with the grind settings I found what I like and ready to start cooking with them! Love the light for easy viewing of how much youre putting in. Wish the salt and pepper fill parts were larger but thats ok. Salt seems to grind a little rattly but I thibk thats the size of the salt chunks I have in it. Perfect for what I was looking for 10/10 as of now!

Edit from my earlier 1-Star rating and the below written review. I've upgraded my rating from 1-star to 5-star, and here's why. Immediately after I submitted my review on Amazon, the company contacted me and offered a full refund for the product. They apologized for the inconvenience and were determined to make things right. I had the refund within a few days. This IS customer service and this is the type of support that will drive me back to this seller. I'll give them and the product another look.

In a home with empty-nester, these didn't last six months before all the cheap parts broke. They are completely unusable. Poorly engineered with cheap parts. Save your money.

I love the look and it works very well! Maybe I just need to get used to it but the controls for making the spices coarse - fine is kinda confusing. I just need to keep practicing with it I guess. I tried to do the pepper more coarse than fine and it spit out whole
Peppercorns with pieces. Seems to work better with the salt. I've been just using bamboo bowls so this is a bit less messy too.
