Overall, I'm surprised at the quality of this particular hedge trimmer. For a while, I've been using a Craftsman 22 inch cordless trimmer here on the homestead. The Craftsman is terrific for dealing with hedges, but also with small branches and new growth in areas we have to push back along the tree line. The little saw attachment on the end, that's money, love it. So I was already a bit biased before getting the Powerworks trimmer, but here's my honest take.
I actually like the Powerworks trimmer. Battery had a charge right out of the box, although you'll obviously want to make sure you've got a full charge. We tested it on a variety of things on our land. Great for certain types of weeds. Beautiful job on hedges. If there was anything that I'd change for this particular trimmer, it would be that it could deal with very small branches better. Too much effort. And the price point is the same as the Craftsman I use, so I'd lean towards the one I already use if you're going to spend about $140. BUT there's a bit of a nice tradeoff using the Powerworks.
Where the Powerworks trimmer stands out is that you can actually rotate the handle and use it to trim from different positions easier. And that's something that my Craftsman can't do. So in that respect, I do lean Powerworks. I like this trimmer, so I'd recommend it. Tough toss-up with the other brand I like, but I really do like the rotating handle feature.
