I started taking these about a year ago because my fingers were fusing at the joints and my doctor said to try them. Within the first six months most of my joints in my hands could move again and I am able to use them although I don't have full motion yet. They do take away almost all the pain in my hands. I also do exercises to increase mobility and flexibility (mostly squeezing a tennis ball, also per my doctor's instructions).
