I finally went out on a limb and set up an indoor 5 tier rack for starting seedlings instead of battling Rodents in my greenhouse. Wow. The difference in root balls and stalk quality is insane. I started the light at 12" in a room that is appx 65 degrees and moved up to 20" after one week. I put the light on a timer 16 on 8off and adjusted down to 12/12 after a few weeks, without a problem. Seedlings were up after 3 days. Peppers one week. Paper tomatoes 2 weeks (mine average 4-6 without light). After 3-4 weeks I had to transplant the majority of my plants including tomatoes from my starter trays to single pots. I have had the biggest plant growth and production in my garden with peppers, cukes, squash and watermelon than I've had in the last 10yrs. I can only attribute to the lights"¦. Certainly not the New England weather this year!!! The only thing I will say is keep an eye on your soil dryness. Do yourself a favor and just buy a light!
