Cigar Oasis Excel 3.0 Cigar Humidor Humidifier -Electric Humidor Humidifier w/ LCD Display, Soft-Touch Buttons, Sensor-Controlled Fan, 100-300 Cigars

Key features
- •The Excel's sealed design makes it the perfect system fit for any style cigar humidor of 1-4 cubic feet (75-300 cigar count) be it a classic wooden desktop humidor, foot locker humidor, Cigar Cooler, Coolidor or Wineador
- •Powers up via streamlined thin electronic ribbon/micro-usb connector to standard USB AC power adapter - No drilling necessary
- •The 3.0 line features enlarged Soft-Touch buttons and 5x larger back-lit LCD which displays humidity & temperature readings as well as humidity set point, and low water alerts - Easy to read from afar and without opening the humidor
- •Includes a pretreated & prefilled water cartridge that uses distilled water only. The sealed design on the Excel means an extra long-lasting refill time on the cartridge (2-4 months) - No mess or fuss, just simply refill, snap top back on and you're set for another few months
- •Sensor controlled fan circulates the air & humidity in the humidor, this both insures that every part of the humidor receives an equal distribution of humidity (No need to rotate cigars) and also helps eliminate any "musty" odors from the usual buildup of dead air in passively humidity controlled humidors

Works fine but the monthly cost may bug you.

It works fine, calibrated it and it matches other digital sensors, and I didn't have the problem with the app others reported (but didn't download the newest update because the app gets such a bad rap) yet it will still be the weakness.
A selling feature from owners should be 'this works great and I can even look on an app to check in on my humidor' but instead it becomes 'and it has an app but they'll charge you to use it.'
I get it, everyone wants to be the Netflix of their market and have monthly fees coming in but Netflix became Netflix giving away a lot of stuff, then they switched to streaming when they were part of people's lives.
Charging people to use an app will make them wonder why they 5 aren't using a manual humidity system. Charge $100 and give the app away as a cool feature and people will recommend it because it's different than other products.
My coffee cup has an app that will tell me when my coffee is at the temperature I set. It's cool, it's free, I tell people about that even thought $5 is not going to impact my life. You don't want people with money to spend to have a qualifier about your product when they speak to others.
So it's a 4 rather than a 5 because one of the selling features they use is actually going to cost an extra $60 a year, and people can buy a lot of Boveda packs for that.
In the pictures, you should always be aware of the size. They advertise a ribbon cable, and it is, except when it isn't, so you will either have an unsightly cable sticking out the side or you'll need to remove your humidor lid and place the cable and then screw the lid back on.
Because the unit and the sponge form kind of a brick size you're also going to lose some space. Both are not big deals to me but they aren't clear in the literature.

Set it and forget it

Easy to use, I use it with a 25cigar humidor, I've filled the reservoir one time and it's still going strong. A lot the comments complain of the Wi-Fi/app which is why I haven't even tried to use it. But for what it does, forget the app. Just check on it once in a while.
And if you have any problems with it at all just call the cigar oasis company in New York and they'll handle everything. I've had it for 6 months and have already had to call them about a replacement ribbon cable and for a new machine, but they're customer service is so good they deserve the 5stars.

So far so good. keeping it between 69.3 to 70.2. I have run this about a month now with no problem. Came well boxed for protection. I did not download the app to be able to see on my phone. No big deal for me I walk past it all the time.
The flat ribbon cord fits nicely. Time will tell how long this will last.

Overall good unit but flat connector cable leaves a bit to be desired.

I bought this to go into my Whynter Humidor/Wine cooler unit to get the humidity in the humidor up to acceptable levels. I have had it about a month so far. It took about two weeks for the humidity to come up to 70% stabilize mainly because of newly seasoned wood in the humidor and some seriously dry cigars I moved into it.
My only issue with it, and the reason for marking it down to a 4 was on first assembly it would not power up. It took several tries at seating the flat ribbon cable in the unit and the USB cable adapter before it would power up and stay powered. I am used to seating and unseating many pinned LCD panel display connectors so I'm not exactly new at this. It still took some time to get it seated properly.
After situating it in the humidor and routing the cable out the side of the door I cleaned and de-greased the spot on the side of the humidor and attached the USB to flat cable adapter with its double sided tape. I came back the next day and it had already popped off. So much for their tape and strain relief.
Otherwise, once running it has stayed running and is holding the humidity well.

Not for coolidors over 100count.

As much as I thought it would work it just can't humidify my Needone 150count coolidor. I don't think it's taken a break yet. I filled the drain hole with water for a seal beforehand. No leaks anywhere. I Use Boveda packs and extra beads inside trays gets it steady 69rh. Use this device in a smaller 100 count humidor. FYI.
