So you want to know what this protein is like? I.ve got you covered. To review this protein I used only the bare minimum: 8oz of water in a standard shaker bottle with mixer ball.

Taste: a light chocolatey flavor, no overpowering triple dark extra chocolate triple fudge sweetness here. More like a lightly sweetened chocolate milk. It's naturally sweetened with stevia, thankfully no artificial sweeteners. No bitter or bad aftertastes. I personally have a sweet tooth, so to some others this may be more than sweet enough.

How it mixes: very easy to mix in the 8oz of water and shaker bottle, no clumps, evenly dissolved. I have whey protein isolate that doesn't dissolve as well as this vegan protein!!

Texture: though the Clean Cream does make this nicely creamy and smooth, there is still some mild chalky texture from the mainly pea protein used, but it is not gritty like a rice protein. I'd say this is mostly expected in a plant protein. Still it is easy to drink and probably one of the smoothest plant proteins I've tried. Mix this in a full on smoothie instead of just water like I did and I doubt the chalky texture would be noticeable. I've also tried a half scoop in oatmeal and the chalky texture is hardly evident.

Digestion: no issues with bloating, discomfort, or irritation here, seems to easily digest and absorb. The addition of Velositol is a nice touch for the claimed additional muscle protein synthesis.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a mainly pea protein vegan protein powder, this is going to be one of your best bets. I'd easily continue using this in the future.

After trying a couple of terrible tasting, terrible texture vegan protein powders, I stumbled upon this one and thought I'd give it a try. I was not disappointed! This protein powder works well in a regular protein shake and works great in smoothies. The taste is a bit different- it doesn't taste like chocolate per se but it's still a very good taste. The texture is very smooth for a vegan protein powder. You can sense a bit of powdery texture to it but it's not overbearing at all. For those of you who care about fitness performance, you won't be disappointed either. I've had great sports performance results while consuming this product, just the same as whey protein products. The ingredients are also pretty minimal and clean. I like that it is sweetened with Stevia and not a million and one artificial sweeteners and dyes, like so many other brands (although I do not know what's in Velositol and Clean Cream, which would be nice to know for transparency). My only complaint is the small container size. It'd be nice to have a 30+ serving size as an option as well. Overall, it's a great protein powder, definitely recommend.

I have tried sooooo many plant based protein powders over the past decade. Some have been nearly $100 a month through MLM subscription programs [Shakeology], others not quite so expensive and available at warehouse clubs and grocery stores, but none have checked off so many of the boxes as Genius protein. I drink a shake EVERY day and this one is perfect and my go to. It blends well with added products, comes out smooth without the chalky taste, and doesn't have any added or unnecessary junk.

I follow a macro based eating plan and as a vegetarian it can be challenging to reach 130g of protein a day. This protein powder has a great macro break down with the 22g of protein, but lower carb and fat so I can add to it if I want or need to. I really appreciate this flexibility because a pre or post workout shake should have less than 8g of fat and I can add banana or other fruit to restore my glycogen post work out. The taste is great and it blends really well with added products like peanut butter powder and banana. My husband asks me to make him shakes as a snack to avoid his ice cream habit, I blend this powder with ice and water in my nutri bullet and it is like a creamy thick shake. Such a huge win!
The other thing to note is how low the sodium is in this product, I could never understand why so many of the other mainstream vegan shake powders have such crazy amounts of sodium. That was also a huge win for me!

I'm repeat buyer and am so happy that I can stop the continuous search and cycle of eating poor tasting shakes in search of "the one" as now I have found it! Thank you Genius!

Finding a good vegan or non-dairy protein powder can be extremely difficult because you have to worry about so many things: taste, ingredient quality, grams of protein per serving, cost & value, blendability, and body reaction. Below is a quick synopsis of my thoughts on each of those metrics:

Taste: 3/5 - could be better, could be worse. Add a little honey or a really flavorful nut milk and you can mask that chalky flavor for the most part

Ingredient quality: 5/5 - nothing but healthy plant proteins, no soy, and a wealth of amino acids

Protein/serving: 4/5 - that's the downside of plant proteins, you don't get as many grams of protein/serving. However this is still on the higher side of most vegan protein powders

Cost/value: 3.5/5 - not the best, not the worst. It's not a large tub and if you're trying to get higher protein intake, you can go through the tub pretty quickly, which can get pricey. I have caught this on sale or with 5 - 10% coupons which does help a little.

Blendability: 4/5 - not sure if that's a word, but you know what I mean. I can pretty easily blend this powder with a milk or water using just my blender bottle and the consistency is typically pretty smooth. You will get chunks/globs here and there, but much better than other vegan powders

Body reaction: 5/5 - no upset stomach or digestion issues. No acne breakouts. No grogginess or trouble sleeping. And I'm seeing the results of the additional protein intake; my arms and quads have gotten noticeably bigger.

Overall, just about a 4 out of 5 :)

I have become an avid Genius fan. Thanks to their products, I am as fit now as I used to be back in college. So when I saw they had a vegan protein powder, I just had to give it a try. Along with their Genius Burn in the mornings and their diet pills before lunch and dinner, I have lost 5 pounds in the last two weeks alone. I should point out that I've actually gotten much more muscular to the point of no longer fitting my arms in my dress shirts for work. In other words, I've lost more than 5 pounds in fat. That is something I have been struggling to accomplish.

I really like this protein. I like the simple, quality ingredients it's is comprised of and it mixes extremely well. It doesn't upset my stomach as other protein powders have done in the past and, while the flavor isn't the best (I think that accolade still belongs to BSN's Syntha 6 protein), you will be hard-pressed to find a protein powder as effective and easy to drink like this one.

On the plus side, I have in fact used this as a creamer in my coffee. It was surprisingly good!

Mixability - 5 (smoothest protein powder I've ever had)
Ingredient Quality - 5 (simple, effective, easy to digest ingredients)
Versatility - 5 (seriously, try it in your coffee!)
Price - 5 (slightly pricier than others, but still a great buy compared to the competition)
