Liking this blanket it's very thick. Didn't notice any smell of chemicals. I am using it for sound absorption in my home studio for V. O.

It works to dampen sound but as much as I had hoped.

There's all sorts of questionable quality stuff on Amazon these days, especially when you're talking cinematography stuff. Fortunately there's some gems on Amazon too and this blanket, which is entirely made in the USA, is one of them.

There's not much to say or expect from these other than they're nice and heavy and DARK. All parts are sewed nicely, the clasps are conveniently and evenly placed, there's no weird smell coming off them, and they truly do work in minimizing reverb/echo and blocking some sound.

It should be noted that to truly block sound, you need something thicc and heavy to block it like mass loaded vinyl and there are blankets out there that have said MLV. But if you just need to minimize sound and echo or need something to black out a light source, this is the best you can get on Amazon.

Never thought I'd be excited to buy blankets of any sort but I legit cannot wait to get a few more of these heavy bois to
see what additional acoustic deadening magic they provide when all four walls are covered in them.

I live in an apartment with single-layer glass windows in Southern California. Everything is dense around here, population-wise. The bedroom where I record has a window that's 96x36", not easy to insulate from sound. I bought this to try, and bought a grommet kit because I thought it only had grommets on the 80" side, not the 96" side. I was surprised it had grommets on two sides. I hung it using Command utility hooks, which worked like a charm, spaced just over 10" apart. It's cut the sound at least in half. I may grommet the opposite side and double it up. It's certainly not sound-proof, but it cuts significant outside sound. A lot cheaper than paying for glazed windows installed!

With another product from Amazon, we have a little 6x3 kennel in our apartment. Our 17 month old beagle loves the sound of his voice. When we put this blanket over the kennel, extending down the sides, he becomes calmer and less vocal. It has saved us--and hopefully our neighbors, too. (Very heavy and sturdy. We tried to hang it in the bathroom as a dampening wall, but the curtain rod could not sustain its weight. But our solution with the kennel worked out even better.)
