I love my new Alpaca heavy weight blanket. I purchased it to replace my dead electric blanket before cold weather kicked in....And I am truly delighted with the weight, comfort& softness of the fibers. I own a thick queen size mattress but ordered a king size blanket. In the long run, I'm far more satisfied with the over-lapping on each side of the bed because of my thick mattress. It is too long, but I just tuck the extra under my mattress and the extra length keeps me from pulling it out at night. Wonderful product. I had researched whether to purchase a Merino wool vs Alpaca wool blanket for months. Glad I choose Alpaca.

I bought this for myself in the Queen size as an early Christmas present. I live in TX where its almost always hot, but sometimes we get those cool nights, and have been searching for something that was breathable and keep me warm without over heating. After wasting money on highly reviewed "cooling" blankets, mattress toppers, pillows etc, I discovered they all have one thing in common. They trap heat, and after about 20 minutes you are roasting and sweating. It's the synthetic materials. Sorry; the science just isn't there yet.
When this arrived in the nice, durable case, I took it out and was amazed at the softness, quality of the stitching and the dye. I used it that first night when it was pretty warm out. It was perfect! I didn't overheat but was warm. Recently it has gotten a bit chilly and it is still perfect for keeping me warm. It breaths so well. Very much like cotton but thicker. Also for anyone who loves sheep wool but hates to be itchy, this is the blanket for you. Soft, clean and smells nice. I am sure it will become softer with washing over time.

I read other reviews and was concerned about shedding. We ordered a gray blanket and have placed it between the sheets and a thinner top blanket, which are white. We have not noticed much shedding after a month of use. This could be because it is between two layers, but it just isn't shedding. I have allergy issues with wool/cashmere and have zero problems with this alpaca blanket. It looks great and is warm! Again, I read the reviews (laughed out loud at the one that said it shed "like a mofo.", but I have no issues. Highly recommend!

I own several wool blankets including a Pendleton that I thought was a nice blanket. This blanket crushes it. It's just the right weight (thicker than the Pendleton), amazingly soft and beautiful to boot. And it has absolutely no smell. Often wool blankets smell like sheep or an unshakeable perfume some sellers use to mask the natural smell. This blanket just smells clean. No discernable sent or idor. I usually air new blankets. But I put this one right on the bed.
