1. This wood chipper is for light use only. It advertises as chipping up to 3 inches, but that is a stretch. Any branch having a diameter greater than one inch will tend to stall the motor.

2. Assembly was fairly straight-forward. The bolts rolling around the bottom of the box that some reviewers have identified are the mounting bolts for the wheel brace assembly that were set finger tight in the main body of the machine. I suspect that they loosened off during shipping.

3. There is bolt that connects the air filter bracket to the motor. This bolt needs to be removed before attaching the the stationary legs to the motor. This is not clear in the assembly instructions. Also the instructions refer to washers for assembly. This has been superseded by flange bolts and nuts.

4. After adding oil and gasoline the motor started easily.

5. On first use I chipped branches for about an hour and a half. Towards the end of the job, I started running twigs through the chipper. Evidently this was a bad idea since the exit chute clogged twice. This is easy to resolve. The chute is attached with three 13 mm bolts. Do not remove the bolt closest to the motor completely. It will be a bear to reinstall. Loosen it and pull the chute upward. There is a slot.

6. When I finally got the machine going after clearing the debris from the chute, the paint near the label started to burn and smoke (see photo). I turned the machine off immediately. When I looked down the feed chute, I noticed that there was a twig stuck in the blade. I removed the inspection panel and (see photo) noted that some small branches were wedged in the area close to the burn spot. I suspect that this caused the smoking paint.

7. It's too cold to work on the machine today. Will provide an update when I have dismantled it further. It seems to me, however, that machines like this should be tested and engineered to avoid operational issues.

8. UPDATE: After removing the cover from the chipping chamber, I did find a nest of small branches stuck at the center of the chipping wheel. Photos show the chipping wheel before and after the removal of material. This was overheating as the wheel was turning. After removing the material, I reassembled the cover. Some reviewers found that they had to tweak the position of parts to get everything to fit properly. I did not find this. Like the rest of the machine, the cover plate fit precisely. None of the bolts were binding when I installed them. Lesson: Don't attempt to chip branches that are too large or too small.
Happy but not what it says it is.

Got this because we have a yearly issue with both mulberry and maple trees growing everywhere in our yard. But also initially because last winter our house was half destroyed by a tree strike that crushed the upper living area and we were out of the house for about 9 months till it was repaired so had tons of clean up to do.
So far I'm pretty impressed with this little machine. It's compact, easy to assemble and very powerful. In fact it's (for me) almost too compact. As I'm slightly more than 6 feet tall It's a little low to easily move it around the yard. It isn't terribly difficult but will be better for someone even just a little shorter than I.
Assembly took about 45 minutes solo. They may have changed some of the items with the model I have because I read repeatedly that you needed metric wrenches and sockets and yet most of what I needed were half inch.
As for functionality, it went through a very large amount of brush up to 2 inches diameter and barely slowed down. Mulches most everything up very finely, almost to sawdust and reduced that large pile of brush to two MUCH smaller piles of mulch in about 4 hours. The ejection chute did clog twice on me when I got into more green wood, once badly enough to cause me to have to shut off the engine rather quickly so as to not burn it up. The clogs were pretty quickly cleared and it fired right up and went back to work.
Very easy to start. Runs efficiently, have ran it for hours and still on the first tank of gas. If you're looking for something to handle a lot of brush fast this little powerhouse is a great buy from what I've seen so far.
The one downside to it, I've found, is that I wanted it for my yearly leaf invasion and this does not do what the description says. It's a chipper not a chipper shredder.

WON'T be helpful for getting the leaves out of the yard.

Overall a great machine just wish it did all they said it would.

Addendum: ok one other little gripe about the chipper. After the 3rd large load of brush I had to sharpen the blades. Not sure how they expect you to take the blades off to sharpen or replace through the tiny little access door you're supposed to since it is slightly larger than the blades but has no access to nuts on the back. If you try and remove the blades just with the hex screws you'll likely strip them as they are in fairly tight but either way you would have no way I could find to reassemble them. The one saving grace is that though you have to partially disassemble the machine it isn't terribly difficult to do so and put it back together. Hopefully they will address this issue with future models. Still happy with the machine but want everyone to have eyes open as to what they're getting.
Excellent Customer Service ! Awesome Chipper for home brush maintenance. - 2 year update

This chipper eats wood! Very capable 7hp motor starts on the 1st pull. While very portable, it's a workhorse. It takes about 20 min to assemble, very well packaged with excellent instructions plus a spark plug tool.
Recently my motor had an issue but Fabian from GreatCircle came through and got me taken care of, so their warranty service is first rate.
Keep the blades sharp, fuel stabilizer in the gas tank, air filter clean, oil full & changed, spark plug gapped and you'll be chipping like a pro for years to come.
Was really happy to experience these safety features:
** if running and it's tilted, motor will auto-shut off
** if there's no oil in it, motor will auto-shut off
Highly recommended for keeping brush managed.

*** 21 Jun 2023 update ***
I've now had this chipper/shredder for a couple of years and thought this update might be helpful for those considering it or already own one.
First, if you're planning on buying on or already have one, maintaining it is essential. It doesn't take much but here's the basics:
* Check the oil every time before use - change the oil at least once a year, weather it's run a little or not
* Always use fuel stabilizer in the gas tank since it may sit for a while before next use
* After prolonged use, sharpen the blades and clean all the crap out
* Keep the air filter clean
* Read the manual and follow their instructions
I'm always impressed that this machine typically starts on the very 1st pull, even after sitting in the garage for 8-9 months. Then it eats through 2-3" rusty fig branches like it's nothing. This is only because the blades are kept sharp, the machine clean, oil & gas fresh.
Take care of it and you'll be happy to see yours take care of you.
Great Value for the Money

Okay first, we all know this is a Chinese made product. That being out of the way let me list some Pros and Cons with it.

Pros:
I was surprised how well made it is. Fit and finish is very high quality for anyone's stuff much less China
The motor is a well made Honda clone. It cranks on the first pull and runs quieter than expected
It went together without and issue. Had all its parts and was easy to assemble
It chipped up everything I threw at it for a solid two hours and I could hardly tell it had used any gas.
Cranked up fine both cold and hot
The wheels are no flat type

Cons:
Even though it's small, it's heavier than I expected it to be
Did I say it's small? You stay bent over constantly to feed small limbs ad debris. I solved this problem by putting it in one of my ATV trailers. This worked really well to transport it around the yard and keep it up at a decent level
No oil was supplied with the unit. This wasn't a problem for me but could be for some so be aware that you will need some
Getting to the blades to sharpen or replace will be a little bit of effort
Wheels rims are plastic which could be an issue over time
A lot of CARB emissions junk on the gas tank and carburetor that will give trouble sooner or later

Overall this little unit is a beast. It likes dry and decaying wood the best but it ate everything I could shove in it pretty much without complaint. It did bog with a 3" piece of wood but anything 2.75 and under it handled with no problem. However, it is a machine with a small gas engine on it. Not everyone is familiar with how to operate one properly nor is it an industrial quality machine. It's not going to be able to handle piles of large green wood that you just cut that day as well as it will dead and dry material. You don't need to run run the engine wide open to have good success with it either. That's why it has a throttle on it. I chipped 2.5" stuff and under with the throttle about half open. If you run these engines wide open for hours you're going to have vibration caused problems with loosening hardware and oil leaks. Regardless you should check all mounting bolts after the first few hours and then every so often after that anyway or things will get lose and come apart on you. Give it proper treatment, don't put any ethanol in it ever, service it properly and this little machine will run and last just fine. Overall, for the money it is an absolute great value. I am very pleased with it. If you have a yard with a lot of trees like I do this thing will make your life easier I promise. Buy one.
great
