I will start by saying that I put hours upon hours, upon hours, into researching led lights for my daughters bedroom before purchasing these.

ALSO! If you plan on using LIGHT PINK or PEACH, you will want to read the section about COLORS!

I decided to go with the Govee LED Light Strips because in my opinion, they had the best reviews all the way around. From the colors and brightness, down to whether or not the remote had good reviews as well as the app you can use as a remote. I also wanted to use the lights for a little while before posting a review, however I noticed one issue immediately after installing the lights, which is why I am posting so quickly after purchasing them. Also, you can purchase other products from Govee, add them to your account in the app, & control all Govee products from there. Which I think is awesome!

🚨"¼ï¸Govee Home App & Remote"¼ï¸ðŸš¨
Some reviews I read on other branded led lights stated that the remotes quit working after just a few days or weeks. (Not Govee) Some remotes came in not working at all.
So far this remote has worked the way it is suppose to. I also read the reviews on the application you install on your phone. In particular, the "Govee Home" app that you need for these lights, overall had good reviews. Other apps I read into, some people had never been able to get the app to work at all with their lights. Some said the app quit working within just a few weeks or months. So, either the remote or the app or both had bad reviews on most, EXCEPT for Govee. Which is another reason I decided to go with Govee.

I will also say, my daughter really wanted the 44 key remote. With everything these lights do, they should have came with a remote that could accommodate that. But, they put 44key remotes with the lights that are just like these, the only difference is they aren't compatible with the app, but can still do everything these lights can do. But, since the app can do everything, & these ARE compatible with the app, I assume they didn't want to put more money into the remote, but still. For the price and everything they do, the remote should be able to accommodate that. So I'll be ordering a 44 key remote for her anyway, to make her happy. & yes this is something I knew before purchasing. This is not my reason for 4 stars instead of 5 though.

I also read to make sure these lights were compatible with the Govee Home app. As I had read some people bought lights that said they were compatible in the description, but actually weren't compatible with the Govee Home app when they tried to connect them.

I also took into consideration that some issues could be user error and not an actual issue with the lights.

🚨"¼ï¸INSTALLATION"¼ï¸ðŸš¨
The hardest thing about installation, in my opinion, was cleaning the walls. Yes, you only need to wipe down with an alcohol pad. However, my walls hadn't had a good cleaning and needed one so I just washed them all. After wiping the walls down, you just peel off the back piece of paper (be careful not to pull the adhesive off with it) and stick it to the wall. All in all, pretty easy to put up.

Now, I found if you leave the lights on the reel that they come on, and unroll them as you stick them to the wall, It's a lot easier than unrolling the whole roll and then putting them on your wall. Also, I would pull the piece of paper off the back, little at a time as you stick the lights to the wall. It may seem like common sense to some, but I watched a lot of videoes where people unrolled the lights and completely pulled of the back piece of paper off the lights and then tried installing them and they had a mess on their hands. They were sticking to EVERYTHING.😳

65.6ft went up one wall and all the way around her room. I honestly originally thought that I would have to cut the excess off and she would have a little extra. Especially since her biggest wall is 14ft long, one that is around 13 ft, and the other two aren't even half that. Not sure how that worked out but it barely made it. I didn't even have to cut any off. Even taking into consideration, that I didn't think about going up the wall, I still feel like there should have been a little left over? & I'm in no way, shape or form, complaining. I just want to inform people they may need a little more than they think, if they're doing a whole room.

🚨"¼ï¸ADHESION"¼ï¸ðŸš¨
The adhesion seems pretty good so far. Be sure to push down on the tape after you put it up (don't push down on the lights, I assume you could break them) it says to push down for 10-15 seconds, I think. But I didn't push down that long and they seem to be stuck pretty good, so far. I did screw the brackets in as well, though. Just in case they do start to fall.

🚨"¼ï¸COLORS"¼ï¸ðŸš¨
Now to the colors. MOST of the colors are AMAZING. HOWEVER, there are some light pinks, that look white-ish, purple? In real life it looks more white, but in the photo it looks more purple. I have attached photos of what the color should be, compared to what it actually looks like. This is why I give this product 4 stars instead of 5. I feel like it's more of 3.5 stars, but I didn't feel like it should have been 3, which is why I went with a 4. 🤷ðŸ»"â'€ï¸

I do understand that it's not going to match 100% perfect, however MOST of the colors actually do match pretty accurately. I wouldn't even complain, but it is a pretty big difference & it basically doesn't have a light pink.

This issue has occurred since they came out of the box, from day 1. I didn't want to take them down or send them back after doing all that work and my daughter says it's something she can deal with. Also, some of the peach colors, look white, yellow, & even purple. But you CAN find a peach that looks peach, so that's not that big of a deal. But for the price, I feel like all the colors should work. The dark, bright pinks work good, and that's the one she wants to use, so it kind of worked out. But I still wish they worked correctly. Especially after the hours of research I put into these. I'm sure as time goes on she's going to wish the light pink worked.

I'm really curious if everyone's is like this? Or if these are just defective? I didn't see any other reviews that said their light pink or peach didn't work. So maybe we just got a defective set, I know that does happen.

After posting my review, I've noticed that the photos didn't upload in the order I had them. The photos of the lights with the dog poster, are the ones that are suppose to be the light pink colors selected in the photos that show what color you want to select. Not sure why it doesn't upload in the correct order?

Perfect addition to my son's gamer room. Works very well with the app and remote.

I also didn't follow their advice on corners, and they still work. The app is pretty limited; however, perfect for someone just looking for some basic Holiday lighting that doubles as extra lights for the rest of the year.

Had no trouble recreating my Harry Potter dreams with these lights! Put them onto poster board and covered with poly-fill. The app has a cool lightning effect that makes you feel like you're in the Great Hall!

I have had these lights about 28 days so far and have them installed under our kitchen cabinets. I actually bought both the BT (which I am writing the review for) and the WiFi enabled one as well.

Overall so far I am very happy with these and at the price point with what I really wanted I feel these are worth it. I only wanted to get some accent light under our cabinets. I know some reviews say you cannot cut the light strip which in fact you can along the designated cut strips and splice them together. Or cut to the desired length if want it shorter than the 16 feet. I bought a kit that had some connectors and jumper cables for under the cabinets.

I saw a few people mention there is no timer in the app and they returned the item. One thing I really like about the BT vs the WiFi is that there are 2 timer options so you can run one at night and one in the morning or whatever preference you have.

I have not had an issue the adhesive at this point as some have mentioned. With that kit I mentioned earlier I did get some small plastic clips that I may have use in the future to help secure the light strips if they start to fall down.

The white light really does not get white or does have somewhat of blue hue to it. However my walls are a light grey so that may play into it a little. I do feel the option to turn these more to a soft white is better. But that is my opinion. The color selection overall is ok and I think most people will be happy with the options. The brightness over all is pretty good but do not expect it to light up a 15x20 room. I mean these are $20-$25 dollar light strips.

The option to sync to music my kids love and while these are not professional led dance lights they do a good job for residential, just make the mic is in a good location to pick up the music.

The one thing that I do not really like and this is on my set up. I run a Wyze smart plug with a motion sensor trigger to one of my light strips. When the motion sensor triggers the plug to turn on the light strip goes through the sequence of flashing red, green, blue which is a little annoying. But the light does retain its last color or scene. And the result was the same with both the BT and WiFi led strip lights.

Wrap up - I bough one of each of the 16 footer light strips one is BT only (Which this review is for) and the other led strip is the WiFi. I bought two different strips because I wanted to run 2 different color of lights for patty's and holidays. Over all I am happy with both and have not had issue with anything. I felt like these were easy to install and easy to use via the app. The color selection is ok overall but meets our needs. I I think the blues, purple, red and green are the best true colors. Which makes sense since they are RGB. I am still giving this 5 stars because it has met my needs and functions as describe. Order them and if you do not like them send them back.
