I liked the gift and the thought behind it. I was a tad disappointed in how dark the coloring is, pic shows rock behind amethyst to be light in color when it is actually very dark, black almost and makes it hard to see the purple in the amethyst.

I've bought from Extreme Rocks in the past and I plan to buy again in the future. The amethyst is deep purple as promised. The photos in the listing represent the cluster that I actually received. My research shows that the Uruguayan amethyst in this Amethyst Amazon listings may well be be the only source for the dark purple crystals. Plus, I know that the grey volcanic rock surrounding the crystals allow the cluster to be cut on the bottom to create a nice, study base, which I like.
My purchase was the "under half pound" size (under 8 ounces), but the cluster I received weighed 10 ounces. Thank you Extreme Rocks for over delivering. I also appreciate the the fact that a portion of my purchase price supports a non-profit.
Even the packaging was noteworthy. The cluster was well packed and protected during shipping with a sturdy, durable box. Inside the box, I also found my "bonus" selenite crystal wand as promised. That's a nice touch.

This decorative stone is well prepared, hearty, and beautiful; however, there are a few imperfections that weren't quite polished away making it have a couple of rough spots and the pricing was a little high in my opinion, but overall this is an excellent product.
