It records but while you're watching the show you can't use the CC option which I need. It didn't help the antenna pick up anymore stations. Overall for the price it is a good DVR.

I had tried everything on my old converter box to get a picture but all I got was static. I was convinced that I was getting no signal from my rooftop antenna. Then I hooked up this box - the directions were very small and described a dozen features that I didn't even know about but all I did was select the scan for stations button and after a few minutes - bingo! I had dozens of stations to watch. Works great!

I don't know why, but I had a hard time hooking this up to my monitor. I had to keep switching plugging it into different HDMI inputs before I found one that worked.
I have a 4k monitor and it took some stumbling to adjust the box so I could change to the HD picture quality, and I not sure how I did that.
The menu screen is very disappointing. It just gives channels, but doesn't give any information as to what is playing on the channels.
The remote works well, you can adjust the audio without having to use a different remote, which I find handy. I also don't have to worry about pointing the remote directly at the box.

I got this & really love this newer version! When "over air" channels started being broadcast in digital... All the converter boxes had analog connection wires only. Now days, Tv's don't have those analog connections. Everything is connected with HDMI cords. So, when I found this converter box with BOTH... I bought it ! Especially happy with the great price! Eventually, these boxes will become almost impossible to find. And the prices will go through the roof! As the cost has with a VCR player!
