I use this winch to pull logs up a hill for firewood. As others have stated, the wiring is backwards, but I just reversed the hookup to the battery and works fine. The winch pulls slowly which is ok and will start to grind if it encounters obstacles. I stop it immediately if it labors and usually just manually pull the log away from whatever is preventing it from traveling. I mounted the unit to a 2x6 board and installed heavy duty hooks to the wood block. I can easily attach it to a chain around a tree or my ATV. All in all its saves me a lot of back breaking work pulling firewood up the mountain.
For the price point it's a winner!

For me it's great! I can't make a comparison to others, I don't have prior experience with this type of product. sturdily built it will haul a lot! I mounted on a garage wall to lift kayaks to storage position. I find it to be a little slower than I would want. It reels in; and pays out. The remote is rather large. First one arrived appearing used. I'm happy with my purchase.

I bought two garden tractors at an estate sale. Both weighed close to 750lbs each. They were stored in a barn on the other side of a very wet field which meant I had a month to get my trailer ready.
Lots of winches. Didn't want to spend big bucks. This unit was inexpensive and the reviews were decent. The box was factory sealed and the winch had not been used in any way.
Assembly was easy although I will replace the zinc hardware with better quality. I then mounted the winch on a piece of 2x10.
Charged up my boat battery, connected the leads and just like that I had a functioning winch on my trailer!
We backed the trailer up to the barn and pulled those tractors up the ramp EASILY!!!! Pro Tip: wear a heavy leather glove to move the cable back and forth across the roller as you are winching, to make sure it spools flat and doesn't just pile up on one side.
Overall I'm very pleased with value and cost of this unit.
