The winch is easy to work and install. Did just what I wanted. The only problem is it wasn't built to do what I wanted. I read all the descriptions but didn't see anywhere that it is for pulling not lifting. I didn't see that until I looked at the included directions. Even then it's a little unclear because on the box it says not for lifting humans. If it's not for lifting at all then why qualify it for only humans. I'm still using it for lifting a small load so it's fine.

I used this to lower several loads of three 60lbs bags of concrete down a slope on a sled. I also hauled several 5 gallon buckets of dirt out of the same hole using this. This was geared in a way that my four year old was able to haul one of the buckets up.
I also used this to lower a fridge down a slope. The winch had no problem with it.
It had three settings, to crank it up, down and and then to free spin. The clicking caused by spinning was really loud.
My only complaint was with mounting it. The holes are not placed well. I had to remove the coil, so I could put screws through all the holes.

I modified mine by dividing the take-up reel into two sections to pull two cables while keeping them separated. I used it to raise and lower the work table on my 30 ton press.
