DRO works like it should and measures accurately. Setup is pretty straight forward, the instructions provided do not have anything on installation but Google and YouTube will get you by. The brackets provided will probably need to be modified and all hardware is metric.

Had to specify lengths and Mary was quick with getting things finalized and made sure things were correct before shipping.

Does what it is supposed to do. So far so good. Easy to trim scales. Did it with a tile saw. Slow and steady. Disassemble it first. The arm to mount it to the machine leaves a bit to be desired, But if you have a shop easy to fab something better up.

As a self-proclaimed hobby machinist, I did a lot of research to determine A) what DRO system I wanted B) respective scale sizes that will fit my mill. This was my first DRO install which resulted in ~10 working hours, but trust the process & enjoy a couple cold ones and you'll be okay. Hopefully the pictures & information below will serve as an aid in making your DRO purchase/install.

SPECS USED - ENCO Model 100-1599 (49" x 9")
-Longitudinal Travel (X): 35" - 37" Scale
-Transverse Travel (Y): 12" - 14" Scale
-Vertical Travel (Z): 16" - 18" Scale

PROS:
-Overall good quality scales/encoders/box
-Numbers appear to accurate, but I will conduct further testing to verify
-Quick shipping & good packaging
-Great communication from seller

CONS:
-Hardware (socket cap screws, washer, brackets) is generic and could probably be disregarded
-Manual is quite poor, rely on YouTube as a better reference
-Shield covers are thin and don't allow for much room for mounting holes, but it's better than nothing

TIPS:
-Start with X, then Y, and finish with Z axis - Easiest -> Hardest
-Use a digital level to estimate positioning before dialing in with indicator
-Make sure you have plenty of hardware on hand! This includes nuts, bolts, taps, and various sized washers
-Slightly & carefully ream ends of mounted hole to accept 1/4-20 bots (common & cheap to acquire)
-I recommend custom brackets for Y & Z axis install, and baseplate for Z (depending on machine model)
-Wait till the end to perform cable management. Use oversized P-clamps where slack is needed (Y & Z)

The ToAuto DRO has been an essential addition to my Little Machine Shop 3990 Mini Mill. I purchased the 150mm (y-axis), 300mm (z-axis), and 350mm (x-axis) glass scales. With carefully thought out installation, this DRO has performed flawlessly! It makes machining on the mini mill very easy because there is no need to lay out feature dimensions on a workpiece. Using a simple edge finder, spot drill, and the DRO; positions for drilled and bored holes are extremely easy. Milled features are simple to accomplish as well. I used the DRO to machine several parts for a power feed on the x-axis. This project required the precise machining of three mounting plates so that there is exact alignment of the components when assembled to the mill table. The ToAuto DRO made the process easy and accurate. Also, the custom ordering process went smoothly and customer service was terrific. I highly recommend ToAuto DROs.

Love this DRO! It brought my Grizzly G0484 mill into a whole new level of accuracy and repeatability. It took me a while to configure and properly align the attachment brackets but that's just part of the fun. Plenty of videos out there to help guide you along the way.

As to ToAuto...I can't say enough good things about this company. I ordered this DRO just before the world turned upside down. Because of that, it was delayed getting to me. Their rep Daisy reassured me it would arrive...and it did. Still, it the midst of everything that was going wrong, their openness and constant contact spoke volumes for this company.

In hindsight, I'd say to be ready for a bit of a delay for it to arrive but be patient...it's worth it.

Lastly, the pro machinist that was teaching me said this DRO was as good as his that cost him many, many times more.
