Good cheese grater, bad zester

I works well when finely grating cheese, tried it with monterey jack and parmesan and the process went well without issue.
It does not do very well with zesting. Its tiny blades poke too deep that it tends to dig into the pith even on the first pass on zesting a lemon. Also, since the blades dig deep, they tend to get stuck. Instead of one smooth motion, you get stops and starts that really feels dangerous. I felt like I was under at risk of grating my fingers the whole time I zested the lemon.

Very Good for Grating Ginger

I got it two days ago. I tried grating ginger and found it to be doing an excellent job. The blades appear very sharp and so, do NOT cut yourself!! The handle is solid and the anti-skid piece at the other end also does the job very well.
I would suggest that you only hand clean it because knives and items like this are bound to lose their sharpness in the dishwasher. However, while cleaning by hand please be extra cautious.
I have some objection to the "blade guard cover" design. I have no idea as to why two large oval holes have been kept on it, thus exposing the blades. If you want to give a cover for safety purposes, just cover the whole thing. Leaving these oval holes makes it dangerous. The designers might have "some purpose" for those holes in mind but I was not able to figure it out myself. If it is not that important to have them, just try to cover them up in future releases. You can understand what I mean by looking at the last picture in the advertisement, with a blowup of the region in the area of those oval holes.
Otherwise I think this is a good buy for everyone. I am not sure whether the metal parts will rust too soon or not. Time will tell for me. Hope it remains like this for a long time.
