AMAZING! LIFE CHANGER/GAME CHANGER in the sleep apnea community!
Elson✓ Verified Purchase•September 2, 2023
Let me tell you, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea over ten years ago. I bought the cpap machine and the face mask that goes over just the nose. It was ok for a while, good results, however, after ten years of using it, it takes a toll on your face. I would get the "cpap look" face, I would have headaches, and the mask also presses up against my teeth and I would have toothache in the morning. When I went to my new dentist, she could definitely tell I use CPAP machine because she could see the inside of my mouth, the lining having scratches due to the teeth being pushed into my mouth. Then I found Stuart's product and gave it a try. I had issues with them because I didn't know exactly how to use it. Let me tell you, I called Stuart five days later upon using my product letting him know that I have having some leaking issues, even though with the leak, I actually still got a good amount of sleep without snoring, I know because I have an app that records me at night. When I called him, he FaceTimed me and instructed me in details how to use it, literally step by step. I immediately knew what I was doing wrong. I know Stuart because he was the technician that did my sleep study over 10 years ago. Then he told me about this new product he created that does not involve using a face mask. I would have breakouts on my nose and bruises on my face because of the tightness of the nose mask. Guess what, NO MORE! And this works with all/if not most of the cpap machine you maybe already have. I usually never leave reviews but this product has changed my life, my face has been clearing up and the bruises are going away slowly. Basically, if you're having the same issue, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! BUY IT NOW!
Definitely a better mouse trap

I was hesitant to spend the money on this because I wasn't sure it would work, but after another night of consent adjusting my traditional nasal pillows I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did.
It is nice not to have a strap around my head anymore, and I didn't have to spend time trying to find the perfect position to lay in. I will say that connecting the hose to my nose clips correctly did take a bit, but I was amazed at how quiet things were when I got it on the right way. I move around in my sleep but haven't had any difficulty with the system staying on correctly.
The price is a little high but is worth a good night sleep.

FANtastic! Finally I can sleep all night!

(64-yr-old fat woman:) Got diagnosed on Jan2, 2020 with *severe* apnea: like, 37% of the night my blood oxygen was BELOW 90%: that's terrifying! The VA gave me a ResMed10 (a very good system!) with an Amara Vue mask -- a pretty decent mask (certainly better than my newbie impression of the 'over the bridge of the nose' type; or the ones with the thing resting on your forehead!!) Started with the Amara; fully expecting to have an adjustment period. Wow. I liked that I could wear my glasses, cause I like to read in bed before sleeping. Mask seemed okay to start -- but then (every d@mned night!): 0200 it woke me up leaking, I'd reset it, then 4 a.m. it woke me up 'flapping' (loudly!) on my cheek -- you know: right next to my ear?!) Every night -- for a month+! Tried everything I could think to make it stop -- getting crankier and crankier because it was happening EVERY night!!
Began watching LankyLefty -- a godsend to the apnea world! -- HOPING I could ID a mask that might work. (If you've ever dealt with the VA, you know you can't just "get an appt and get help"... Hell you can NOT even call the guy you spoke with a week ago and get a working number!) Lefty said in passing that the face muscles relax overnight, which leads to the flapping (though I believe he called it "face-farting"....) Greaaaaat. Not gonna be able to fix THAT!
In one of his videos he reviewed Pad-a-Cheek: some woman who makes 'covers' for the various masks. By happenstance, the one I ordered arrived the day after the night I really STRUGGLED (at 4 a.m.!) to NOT throw the mask on the floor and just stomp it! (I get very cranky when my sleep is disrupted.) Amazingly, that cover worked great, and I got a LOT more sleep! However, still occasional leaking (I sleep on my side; the Vue is pretty good but not great for that) and still struggled with just the mask and head straps and the velcro letting loose in the dark at 4 a.m. -- and once the magnet-thingie flew off to somewhere on the floor; I had to turn all the lights on and locate it (next day ordered a second set of magnet clasps!).
Okay, so there's the background. Lefty also did a demo and discussion of this amazing not-a-mask system. He interviewed Stuart Heatherington, the inventor (look: the sun comes out and the angels sing!!). Oldish interview, before they were in full production, but I went on the hunt! They went into production in end of 2018, I think. Found this and the other parts on good-old Amazon. (Some CPAP store said I needed a prescription to buy this from them!!! No, I believe the FDA (?) scrip requirement is for the MACHINE, not the masks!) Price works out to be about the same with all the gear and the 'nozzles' (officially: DreamPorts) and the witchhazel skin wipes.
O.M.G.!!!! Bleep suggests trying the system out when awake to get used to it... Nope, watched the vid on application, read the directions (yeah, I'm a good-bit aspie), stuck the DreamPorts on with the provided tape ... And slept TEN STRAIGHT HOURS!! Undisturbed! Now, I did have a helluva sleep deficit to make up! But ... even though it felt a bit strange -- yeah, yah feel kinda like an elephant with that 'trunk' -- this system is comfortable, the pressure was fine, I did not have a problem with opening my mouth in sleep.
About 28-days use now. I still put them on in front of a mirror. Twice the tape has 'sprung a leak -- where a bit of the tape rises up and air escapes... wakes me. But it's a tiny leak, and since I 'cut down' the tape before applying, I keep the cut-away remnant bits near the machine, so if I want to, I can 'patch the hole'; usually it's get-up time anyway, so I don't bother. Sometimes, if I don't quite get the tape smooth all around on application, I'll 'preventively' add a bit of remnant tape.
I cannot recommend this system highly enough! I'm now almost starting my fourth month as a machine-wearer. The idea of having to struggle to get decent sleep for literally years had me really unhappy. (Did I mention some nights with the Vue, I'd rip it off and sleep without?! BAD decision -- but who makes good decisions in a sleep deprived 4 a.m. desperate fury?!) Now, I can envision NOT suffering and sleeping well, every night!
Oh, and yeah, I actually called for help once -- I thought the hose maybe had a leak -- the 'wind noise' was so loud (aspie... easily annoyed...). Figured, when it rang on: Oh, it's, like, 5 p.m. on a Friday; everyone's gone home, so I hung up! A minute later, Stuart himself (!) called me back! I described how I tried cutting duct tape very thin and wrapping it around the ... place/thing where the hose attaches to the base of the not-a-mask, but that didn't work ... and he had me try a test using scotch tape to block the DreamPorts, and the exit-breath vents, then hook to the machine and see if the noise stopped. Ah, yup.
He said they were working on a diverter. (I had tried to make one like some folks showed on YT, but I couldn't make it work.) Stuart says they're in alpha testing on it -- so soon there will be a fix! Yes, I'm testing the one he sent me -- and it's brilliant! Works exactly as described! But I write that just cause he sent me one, not cause I'm associated with him -- other than DELIGHTED (well-rested too!) with this not-a-mask system! Spend the money! MAN, is it ever worth it! When I finally get to see the VA guy again, I'm gonna see if the VA will offer them. Hope so!

Update: 11 July 2020, started with it 4 Mar: Still SO grateful to Stuart and the Bleep team! I, too, found the heavier hose could be annoying in the way it pulled on my nose. When we spoke, Stuart had recommended the bar-thing that sticks under your mattress and holds the hose about 3' above the bed -- made a HUGE difference. But still, that heavy-ish hose... I took some corrugated foam (that some electronic gear came in) and cut two pieces about 5"x4", put the 'bumps' sides together, and secured with a headband (hey, it was middle of the night and I wanted to go back to sleep! Those are what I had close by!) Threaded the heavy hose through one loop of the headband. It's loose enough that it doesn't compress the hose -- and I can easily pull the hose longer or shorter, as I need to, depending on how I'm lying.
Makes a semi-stable (I'm thinking I need to made a weighted base, cause it falls over VERY easily) ... support ... of the hose -- raising it up to "nose height" when I'm on on my side. No more pulling! Easily adjusted when I switch sides or head positions on my pillow. I use an inflatable travel pillow, which allows my ear to NOT be crushed against the pillow: I sleep mostly on my side.
Still MADLY in love with this system! Without it, I could not be getting "gold stars" from ResMed and my sleep doc at the VA! She was ASTONISHED that I have not missed a night since they gave me the BiPAP -- and I added the Bleep Dream System!

Still LOVE this system! Am ordering the diffuser, as I took it off to clean (yeah, I know, it says not to -- but I didn't know that back when Stuart sent me one to try). The 'wind noise' annoys me as I'm trying to fall asleep, but it doesn't wake me or, near as I can tell, interfere with my sleep. But, a new diffuser will make falling asleep easier. I can't IMAGINE how anyone will continue to masks and straps and stranglers and leaks, when THIS system is available! Yeah, I'm still buying my own stuff -- can't reach the sleep group at the VA to find out if they're covering it yet: DON'T CARE! SO worth it!

Worth a try

I've been using a Cpap for close to a year and have tried 6 different masks. I must have a short, round head because every one of them had straps that rubbed on my ears or slipped up the back of my head. Even when I found the mask, itself, tolerable. I finally decided to give the Bleep a try. I have to say that learning how to clip the connector onto the ports can be tricky but after a few weeks, I seem to have the knack for it now. Looking in the mirror you see the opposite image so it can get confusing. Watching all the little videos that Bleep provides has really helped and I recommend going to their site if you're considering these. Sometimes I get one on crooked, so I use trimmed off end pieces of the adhesive to patch where I might have a leak (video explains) - I wish they supplied even a small extra supply of this adhesive material. I do find the mask a little heavy pulling on the nose when going to bed, but I just hold it up or toss over my shoulder until ready to hook up. I keep mentioning videos, but the Bleep site has one showing a set-up for supporting the hose in bed and so I took a chance and ordered them - and now, when I do go back to my Dreamware mask for a little break, i use them and wish I'd bought them months ago! When you adjust it just right, it supports the hose perfectly - the mask doesn't rest on my face at all and I can roll around freely. It has been so much more comfortable than any of the other masks I've tried - you do have to get used to applying the ports because once the adhesive is down, you can't really pull them off to readjust or they lose their seal and will leak air. The 2 problems I've run into is 1) the connectors that rotate have kind of a sharp plastic surface and irritate my upper lip. I remedied by using tape to cover my lip, but I sure wish they would provide extra tape for small areas like leaks and upper lip. I can't seem to find tape that removes as gently as those provided with the ports. My other issue is 2) I've started to get air leaks where the little filters are. Regular exhalations have been quiet, but now air is leaking around the edges of the filters, which makes it go from quiet to air blowing sound. And since having eye surgery a few weeks ago, it's allowing the air to blow up into my face. I haven't figured out a remedy short of ordering a hew connector unit. Bottom line, I'd recommend the product, as well as watching all the informative videos, and to give it a solid try to give time to adjust, as you would any other mask.
Update to comment above: I did order a new Vent Diffuser and that solved excess air leaking out. I also continue to trim the ends off of the adhesive, as is show in their instruction videos, and found that if I put one of those trimmed off pcs directly under my nose, it serves as a barrier to the plastic rubbing on my upper lip. I also purchased the hose holders that the owner mentions in his video and that keeps the hose completely off my face - just took a little adjusting to get it right. Sadly, my insurance doesn't cover Bleep, but I'll pay out of pocket just to be free of the straps and having freedom of movement.
Someone in another review mentioned the importance of not having wrinkles in the adhesive, or you'll have a leak, but if you save the ends you trim off of them, you can place one over the wrinkle, overlapping on your skin and it's fixed. It just takes practice to get the feel for snapping things together, and a little bit of trouble shooting if you run into a problem - just like any other mask.

I was skeptical, but this is life-changing.

I have had a miserable time adjusting to the CPAP-life. I've tried nose-masks, mouth masks, face masks, nose-pillow masks. In the past year, I have tried eleven different masks. Some worked better than others, but they were all terrible. For the masks to fit properly, the straps have to be tight, which is uncomfortable and can hurt. To keep the masks from leaking, I often have to mash my face into the pillow at an angle. No matter what, my mouth and eyes are always dried out. I wake up, feeling like I have allergies, gasping for water to quench a dry throat, and usually with a mild headache. If I can get four hours of continuous sleep without yanking the mask off, I consider it a success. On top of all this, I can't wear glasses with the masks on, it's difficult to use devices (ipad, computer, etc) with them on, and they always feel so confining and heavy.
I was extremely skeptical about this product. It may work wonders for some people, but there's no way it's going to work for *me*.
However, it did. Immediately.
I shaved my face, used one of the cleaning pads to wipe the area around my nose, stuck the ports on my nostrils (while laying on my side, in bed, without a mirror, without having ever tried this before) with no problem, connected the ports (I think I was supposed to do that first?), adjusted the ports so they stopped leaking air, and --- that was it!
Next thing I know, I'm waking up from having so quickly fallen asleep for *seven straight hours*! I didn't feel restricted, confined, sore, dry, sick, dizzy, have a headache. Nothing. It was so fantastic. The nostril tape came off easily and painlessly (even though it stuck perfectly and comfortably all night) and while wearing it, I could put my glasses on, do nearly anything I wanted, and had no straps, air leaks, loud noises, or *anything else* to contend with.
My only complaints whatsoever are:
1) The connection of the interface to the nostril ports isn't awesome. HOWEVER, the new version is finally launching late next week (middle of December 2022) and it replaces the connecting system with little magnets -- so you can just pull the connection apart, reconnect it, pull it apart, reconnect it... with zero difficulty. (The new product is called the 'Eclipse').
2) It takes some effort getting used to the different feel of the mask -- especially when you're not laying completely on your back. It feels different and awkward to have a few ounces of equipment attached to and dangling from your nose and pulling downward on it. It doesn't hurt. It's just a little unsettling, at first. After a few nights, you'll start to realize that the weight isn't going to make it disconnect or pull the tape off your face. It'll be fine!
3) The price is a little steep. The interface has to be replaced every (I think) three months. It uses a pair of ports (I think the new version calls them 'Halos'?) every night -- and those come out to like a buck or more.
I forgive the price, because this is a rough business to be in and this is a small company that doesn't yet have the effective power of an enormous corporation buying a kajillion manufactured units at a time. The innovation and the relief it brings is worth the price, though. If you've suffered the typical problems of a CPAP user, you know that there have been many nights where you said you would "give anything" to make it better.
The first morning I woke up after using this and having a nice long uninterrupted sleep, I -- a grown middle aged man -- literally cried some tears of joy and relief. It came out of nowhere and surprised me, but for the only time in my life I had a *product* impact me so much that it actually made me tear up.
Finally, the founder and head of Sleep Bleep (Stuart) is incredibly responsive. I can't imagine he can continue to be so available once the product really hits the stratosphere and takes a big chunk of the mask market, but for now, he has been a delight. I had concerns, so emailed him before buying. He gave me some guidance and even told me that we could set up a Zoom call if I wound up having any trouble and he would happily walk me through any issues. He even responded quickly after the purchase, when I was just reaching out to let him know what I thought of the product and asked for an update on availability of the new version.
When I say that he was responsive, I mean he replied to both my communications both times *within two minutes*. In the middle of the night. On the weekend.
I rarely gush about a product and evangelize about one even less, but everyone who is unhappy with their current solutions absolutely needs to try this. It might not be the right thing for *everyone*, but it is certainly worth the investment to give it a try. If it does work for you, it is going to make you dread bed time and the CPAP machine so much less.
This is what actual innovation looks like. I mean, this guy tackled a problem that hundreds of millions of dollars worth of R&D from multi-billion dollar medical equipment companies has never solved and he initially started it by slapping together a prototype from parts he sourced at a hardware store. It's such a great story and I hope it's just the start of the story.
I really love this product. I really encourage you to try it. Go into it thinking "this probably won't work for me, because nothing does!' -- but understand that it very well might and if it does, you're going to be freaking out just like I have been.
Take care of yourselves, fellow apnea sufferers. I wish you well!
