A Lifesaver: LcFun Electric Lighter with Solar Charging Capability
James Cumbee✓ Verified Purchase•May 12, 2024
I recently acquired the LcFun Electric Lighter, and it has quickly become an indispensable part of my everyday carry. Not only does it serve as a reliable source of fire in various situations, but I've also combined it with a solar charger, ensuring that it's always ready to provide fire for my family, regardless of the circumstances.
The LcFun Electric Lighter boasts impressive features, starting with its windproof and waterproof design. It's a flameless dual arc plasma lighter, which means it works flawlessly even in challenging weather conditions. Whether it's windy, rainy, or snowy, this lighter never lets me down.
What sets this lighter apart is its USB C rechargeable capability. This is where the solar charger comes into play. By using a solar charger, I can keep the LcFun Electric Lighter charged no matter where I am. This feature is a game-changer for me, especially when I'm outdoors or in emergency situations where traditional lighters might fail.
The dual arc design produces a powerful and consistent flame, making it easy to start fires, light candles, or ignite stoves and grills. It's not just a convenience; it's a reliable tool for ensuring my family's safety and comfort.
The build quality of this lighter is top-notch, and it feels durable and sturdy in hand. The safety features, like the automatic shut-off after 10 seconds of continuous use, give me peace of mind.
In summary, the LcFun Electric Lighter, paired with a solar charger I also purchased from Amazon, has become an essential part of my preparedness kit. Its windproof, waterproof, and dual arc design make it a reliable source of fire, and the solar charging capability ensures that it's always ready when I need it. I highly recommend this lighter to anyone looking for a dependable fire-starting solution, especially in emergency situations.

Great lighter and excellent customer service

When I first received this lighter, it worked great. After a couple of weeks, it stopped working. I was going to return it but came to realize if I pushed the.starter button firmly, it would light. Sometimes I still need to push it a couple of times. So far, it works most of the time. I keep a regular lighter as backup for days it's not raining or not windy.
I don't really know when it's low on a charge. If I've used it for a few days, I'll recharge it. Will the LiOn battery eventually die completely? Probably. Hopefully not sooner than later. I chose not to return it and, if the battery eventually dies, I'll buy another. These plasma lighters are pretty inexpensive. Certainly cheaper than buying Bics frequently and this type of lighter is great for windy days. Santa Ana winds can be brutal.

The Seller saw my review and just sent me a new lighter without me requesting one. Now that's great customer service. It works great.

Four way comparison; feature consideration discussion
aTypicalEngineer808✓ Verified Purchase•March 19, 2024
Summary: Decided to order a plasma/tesla style lighter for my wife's candles, and while I was at it, I decided on a few more. I'll discuss what factors I considered when ordering these four, as well as some features that I considered deal breakers.
Observations:
1) For all styles, here are some considerations: a) single or multiple (double or triple) plasma arcs, b) battery size.
2) For long neck style: Two variations to choose from: a) flexible neck, and b) solid. I went with solid because it has the added feature of retracting the tip into the neck for added protection (did not see one that was both flex and retractable). The flexible neck would be better for odd lighting angles like a gas grill or stove top.
3) For pocket carry: Lots of features: a) protruding or recessed plasma tips, b) extra features like a flashlight. All the ones I bought feature both a dual plasma arc, and protruding tip. The dual arc I felt would have better lighting capability. The LCFUN is the most basic, without a light; the added benefit is that there is no external button which could get bumped in a bag and drain the battery; this is the LCFUN is the one that's going into my EDC pack. The absense of a button is also more waterproof. The Survival Frog and GESPERT both have a simple LED light with three modes (low, high, strobe).
4) Other features: I looked for some other features: a) removable battery, b) large battery; but didn't choose any of those offerings. Some other features I found that were deal breakers are: extra safety features, such as having to press the button three times, and then another to finally ignite (that's too much, and cumbersome).
Recommendations: There are some tasks which a plasma (vs. gas/butane/flame) lighter will not work for: a) heat shrink tubing. I'm sure there are others, but that was the only one I could think of for now.
For all four:
Pros: 7-second cut-off (industry typical value); all included a USB cord; all pocket variants included a lanyard.
Cons: Not appropriate for all tasks, especially requiring an open flame.

Love this lighter. Will be buying again when a replacement is needed. Used daily and long battery life. Quick charging. Wind does not effect performance. Fun and easy to use. Durable to go through washing machine. Case durable to withstand dryer. Ask me how I know, lol, accidental findings.
