Easy to install

This remote was easy to install, I think it took about 30 minutes total and that includes setting up the app. I use the app that it came with so I don't know how well it works with Alexa.
Lasted 3 1/2 years

Ordered an installed this 3 1/2 years ago and it quit working. Guess that's not bad considering the price. Ordered just the base since I already have the garage door sensor installed.
I hid the garage door sensor wire along the top of the track and then in the small gap between the sheetrock and the garage door frame. Can't tell it's there. Some of the wires in the review's pictures look awful.
Finally a HomeKit garage door solution that works!

First off this controller actually works with home kit. Controlling up to 3 openers works really well. The external WiFi antenna cured the low signal issues. This one works with older garage door openers too!
The backstory: I have 2 older (from the 90's) garage door openers which require just a contact closure (like the wall button) to operate remotely. This leaves out the majority of HomeKit garage door interfaces. Plus the ones that worked with my openers required 1 HomeKit remote unit per opener all of the other systems I had always had WiFi signal issues"¦ even with my repeater.
Installation was a breeze for a 2 garage door opener set up, you will need to order the wire for the 2nd (and third) opener. The other thing I love is the sensor that detects the open/close door position is a hard wired magnetic switch unlike the wireless sensors that had interference issues. Sure, you have to run wires to the switch but it's a good trade off for rock solid operation in my opinion.
Overall, this thing just works and it's fun to tell Siri (on Apple car play) to open/close the garage door without going for the remote button in the car.
The bad; using HomeKit automation works but for some ridiculous reason, for the automation to work you need to press 2 buttons on your phone every time. Which defeats the point of having automation which should just open/close the door when your phone "sees" the home WiFi without the need to press anything. This might be an Apple thing, don't know.
Easy install, alexa integration and app have some shortcomings

Installation was pretty straightforward on my 20+ year-old Lift Master/Chamberlain opener. Install took about an hour, but I wasn't rushing it. Before ordering this I did the the suggested test of jumpering the two contacts connected to the manual open button with a pair of pliers, it worked fine, so I went ahead and put in the order.

The first two photos show the unit mounted on top of my opener, with the wire connected to the two contacts that trigger the door to open or close. The third photo shows the magnetic switch that tells the unit the garage door is closed. I mounted the loose one to the top of the garage door, and the wired one to the wall just behind it. I tried the double-stick tape provided with the opener, but it didn't work at all (almost lost the loose one when it fell off) so I screwed them in. I have them mounted at a right angle to each other rather than directly facing, and they work fine that way.

The app installed and set up with a few minor glitches, but I kept at it and it's working fine. I particularly like the overtime notification that lets me know if I've forgotten to close the garage - more on this in a bit. I wish the app allowed me to choose the alert tone, so I'd know without looking at my iPhone that I was getting a message from the Meross opener. As it is, it only allows me to use the phone's default tone, so when something comes in I'm not sure if it's a text message or any number of other things my phone alerts me to with the same tone.

Alexa integration is OK, but could be more full-featured. Alexa tells me when the door opens, and I can open/close the door with a voice command, but the overtime warning (a critical piece for my increasingly forgetful brain) does not integrate to Alexa. I would love it if Alexa would give me a voice message if my garage has been left open and keep repeating it at regular intervals till I close it - but as it is now I have to depend on my phone to provide that, and again, it's the same alert tone as almost everything else. Also the phone only alerts me once, and I'd like to be able to set it to keep nagging me till I shut the darn door. I hope future app upgrades can address these issues.

Overall, I like the unit. It allows me to check the status of my garage door when I'm not home, alerts me when it opens (both via the app and Alexa), and alerts me when I've forgotten to close it (sadly only via the app). I now have the app on my phone and my wife's phone, giving us both the ability to monitor and control the garage door. And the price is hard to beat.
Not as simple as it seems

I bought this for $38 on Prime day. Great value for the price.

As others have written, opening the app provides you with more detailed instructions than the paper ones included in the (very nice) packaging. What I did was opened the app in the kitchen, saw the detailed instructions, put the phone in my pocket and scooped up the box and went to the garage. Locking the phone disables the tutorial. back to the paper for me.

Apparently there is a way to cross check the compatibility with your garage door opener (I have a craftsman) but the instructions were not clear (I thought they were asking for the make of the device itself) so I skipped this part.

I won't go over the wiring portion, it was very simple and I had it wired in in about ten minutes. Super easy, even without the app.

Where the easy ended and the hard part begins is the sensor. There is a magnetic sensor that you place on the door itself, and a matching sensor that is wired to the device. When they are close together the device knows the door is shut. The instructions said to place these within an inch of each other. It's actually just shy of a 1/4 inch. This took me almost an hour to find a place that would allow a quarter inch of movement without snagging the wire or finding a place where the magnet could sit. This was the hardest part about the whole process and I don't have any tips for you guys here. This part sucked. I had to hold the sensor close enough to each potential mounting area and constantly shut and open my door while figuring out how to perfectly space the sensors close enough to each other without touching when the door moved.

Lastly I'll get to the app. The app is ok, but you have to set up an account. Ok. Tricky part came with integrating it with Alexa.

Well, like many of us now a days I use a password manager. The password is long and complex and for whatever reason when I copied it into the Alexa app to log into Meross it would just sit there, log in button greyed out. Over and over again. Ended up emailing support because When I set up the Meross app it asked for an email and the Alexa integration asked for a log in and I thought they were two different things. Again, the problem was from pasting the password from my password manager. Ended up typing it in and it worked fine. The next problem came from the voice commands.

I couldn't get the voice commands to work even though the apps were integrated. I could use Alexa to open and close the door but not the voice commands. Here the problem was that the name of the device in Meross was different than the one in Alexa. I was saying "Alexa, use Meross to open the garage door" and variations on that. What Alexa needed to hear was "unlock the smart garage door opener" which just rolls off the tongue. Once I got it renamed and I realized that the command is to "unlock the garage" (with a code you need to set up so a thief can't yell into your window) the whole thing works well.

In conclusion, for $40 this thing is great. As with any new piece of tech there's learning curves and frustrations. You're integrating three things (the old garage door opener, the Meross system, and Alexa/Google) so there's going to be some pain in that. Once it's working it's a breeze. One thing I do worry about though is the integrity of the Meross system. I worry that the data is not protected well and I wonder how well a hacker could break into my home. Overall I do recommend this product.
