This was the best choice. Sturdy and holds a ton of dvds and cds. Love it. ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
Pretty good product for the price but with suggestions

Product came well packed but somewhat heavy. All pieces present. Decent particle board with nice walnut finish-no dings or scrapes (you're not getting solid wood at this price point!). Usual cam lock hardware that locks reasonably well if you sink and align the cams carefully. Instructions also in usual pictogram style though not hard to follow as pieces (especially tops and bottoms) are well marked. Took me a little over 2 hours with half of it spent twisting in the shelf supports-more on this later. Issues noted in previous reviews did not surface for me though I understood their origin. Maybe my production lot was better tuned, especially with alignment of the shelf support holes and installing the shelves themselves.
Suggestions:
-I almost mistook for packing the fiberglass spinner which is a non-descript lightweight disk that I (and other reviews noted) does not engender confidence in supporting 400 (let alone 200) pounds. It bends quite easily. Instead of using it I opted for a 12" metal ball bearing lazy susan recommended by a couple of reviews (Woodpeckerscrafts on Amazon for about $10) that added about 20-30 minutes to assembly time as it required alignment, drilling 6 holes, and purchasing 6 appropriate size wood screws, and a few squirts of light lubricating oil. Spins easily and solidly and with confidence.
-Patience: Turn on some enjoyable easy on the ears music, lock the kids, cats and dogs out of the room, maybe a glass of wine and sit in a comfortable arm chair and start installing the shelf supports (twist in the peg end). BUT do this BEFORE installing on the base and putting on the top. Lay the side of the column across your lap resting on the arms of the chair and have a handful of supports nearby and start twisting away. Much easier to see and align (the peg goes in easiest STRAIGHT in). Only a couple of recalcitrant pegs needed a very judicicious tap from a tap hammer, especially those going into the thinner side of the column.. A little wipe of lubricating oil on the tough to install shelf supports may also help. This is tough on your finger tips-a latex glove may help.
-Install the shelves FROMthe middlle going to top and bottom; helps flex the sides a little, and make sure the edge of the shelf that fits inside the column edge is fitted first and clearly clears the edge.
All in all a very reasonable handsome and functional CD tower, reasonably designed, constructed and priced with quite large storage space given relatively modest 16" base and 22" width at maximum (45 degree) spin, footprint.
Now the hard part: sorting out 600 CD's to be shelved IN ORDER. Anyone remember the semi-famous scene in Barry Levinson's wonderful movie DINER, where the boy goes bonkers after his girlfriend pulls out a few record albums and fails to return them to the exact space meticulously organized by the boy!

Good DVD stand.

I like that all my DVDs fit on this stand. I have about 250 DVDs. It took me 3 days to put all the parts of this stand together with a screw driver and a hammer. I store some of my CDs in the bottom shelf. Beautiful color with my home decor.
Good value for the price, anyone good at woodworking could do better themselves

When i first opened the package i was pretty intimidated, it looked ALOT more complicated than it actually turned out to be. Assembling it was a pain but it could have been worse. Everything was pretty straight forward until it came to the point where i assembled the shelves.
Because of the way you assemble the whole thing, one of the innermost holes in the corner where you would put the brackets upon which you rest the shelves, will be covered up by the assembly, making it impossible to put them all in. As a result, my shelves only have three points of contact instead of the usual four at each corner, so if i put just enough pressure in the right place it'd cave in and even now some of them might be slightly uneven. It's good enough for me but i can imagine how someone more obsessive compulsive or who otherwise needed perfect symmetry would be bothered.
I can also see how the swivel plate is imperfect, it WORKS but a better metal one would go a long way, although if i was going to go that way i'd rather have a sturdier wood than the particle board this one is made out of, a nice pine or cedar or some such would triple the value. Still at this price point, you can only ask so much. (course, nothing is stopping a decent carpenter from taking the plans used to assemble this one to make their own storage tower from scratch).
My one major complaint is that the way the spaces for the DVD's are set up, when you fill one of the shelves one of the DVD's will be forced into something akin to a pocket or a recess, you'll never be able to easily see what dvd is in that space (let alone pull it out) without moving the other DVD's so you either have to leave a space empty on each shelf, or constantly mess around with it if you ever need to get at that ONE DVD.
While assembling the shelves i felt there weren't much in the way of actual screws, as if some sections are only held in by gravity, or the force exerted by the other sections. As a result i needed another person to help hold parts of it down while i assembled it all the while i was wondering if i should have been applying wood glue to some of the sections to better secure or reinforce it.
It's a good value for the money, but if i had a better workspace i'd just make another, better version of this assembly from scratch.

EXCEPTIONALLY "FAIR VALUE" for the PRICE! --GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR ME!

I bought this unit for a couple of reasons,-
1.- IT WAS CHEAP-($125-ish?)- and Ive seen "COMPARABLE" type units selling for near $1000!,- (Pottery Barn sells a better-made-unit that does exactly the same thing but for near $1000!!) so, I felt price was appropriate....
& 2.- I needed something "workable" to hold a very large DVD collection- so even if "One unit" couldn't hold the entire collection, I figured I'd try this one out FIRST, - & if necessary, I could add a second one later,- (Rather than buying the much larger-sized units offered, which required 3x the circumference space to turn properly & was extremely heavy according to reviews!) So this "seemed to fit the bill"...
Well, the 1st Unit arrived completely broken--BUT NO WORRIES,- I contacted seller and spoke with a very professional, & pleasant, person who stayed in constant contact w/me thru-out the claim process,-(1 wk from start to delivery if replacement!) It arrived in perfect condition, ANNND- I DID NOT have to SHIP BACK the BROKEN UNIT (after emailing verifiable photos of course..) I could discard it as I wished!
MY HUSBAND was the one who put it together-(he's a contractor of 25yrs. So he claimed it was fairly simple for him,-( he also ensured each "peg", or screw was appropriately tightened & added "glue" for extra stability..)
I'll admit The boards initially appeared "flimsy" in the box, but when put together as "A WHOLE UNIT",- it seemed perfectly sturdy & stable to me..it did NOT sway, buckle, or bulge, once FULLY LOADED WITH MY DVD's! AND IT "Rolled" along on my (ceramic tile) floors just fine,-HOWEVER-- the "turning mechanism" IS MADE OF PLASTIC-- & although mine turns fine right now, (loaded with approx. 260 DVD's) it does have a somewhat "fragile" feel about it...in other words,- I wouldn't handle it too roughly, or let children "play" with it by spinning it needlessly,BUT IT FEELS LIKE IT SHOULD handle the job it was designed for with some very minimal, basic care..-OH,-also, when moving fully loaded unit --mine does NOT drag, sway, bend, or feel like its going to topple over!- And IT ALSO "STAYED-PUT" & DIDN'T ROLL when it wasnt supposed to!
The "Look" of the "wood-grain" is- "eh"-- you know, --it's not gonna fool anyone into thinking its "real solid cherry" lol, but the "laminate" was APPLIED VERY WELL, (on mine) I saw -- NO BUBBLES, NO LIFT-UPS, NO Scratches, tears, etc.,-the laminate was FINE.
So, That's about it... I'd DEFINITELY buy another, and Id definitely use this seller again...It was a "good" experience all around!..
