I placed this inside the cubbyhole in the dash with the mount pivoting up and the weight of the gps presses it up against the inside of the cubbyhole so there is no way for it fall off, its perfect for my application, the mount that came with it does fit on my Garmin but the ball is slightly too big for the included mount and would not move without almost breaking it off, but the original mount fits on the ball end and works perfect.

The factory mount that came with my Garmin was very short which forced me to mount it in the lower left corner of my windshield so I could actually reach it. Due to this, the camera lens was constantly misreading the road lines and setting off my "stay in your lane" alarm frequently, erringly so.
I bought the friction mount, hoping for a more centralized location for the device and better alignment for the driving alerts. I should've done my research because the friction mount simply blocked the camera lens. Lol. (Idiot!!)
So, I bought this and mounted it to my windshield just below my rear view mirror. It's in a perfectly centralized location so there are fewer error alarms. No issues with the suction so far.
Highly recommend, very much worth it!!

The base of this is great. It's just flexible enough to match the curve of the dashboard while rigid enough to hold its position. The adhesive works well (best to install when it's above 40-45°--below that didn't really want to stick until I'd warmed up the car).
The weak spot of this is the ball mount, at least for installation. It's a bit rougher than the OEM, and possibly a tiny bit larger than the OEM. As such, it was incredibly hard to connect the ball to the socket for the back of our Garmin GPS (whether the included Garmin mount or the OEM Garmin mount).
Once installed, it's held well. Time will tell how the adhesive holds up to summer sun on a black dashboard, but I've had similar adhesives hold well for 2-3 years and then still release cleanly.

I used this to mount my rearview mirror to my windshield on a '93 Eurovan. After gluing it back on without success I started thinking that a suction cup mount would be a nice solution. As it turns out the original mirror has an 18mm ball mount, and the Garmin mount is 17mm. So I ordered it knowing I would need to adapt it somehow. I used a small piece of rubber from an old bicycle inner tube to shim the difference, and it works great. The new mount holds very well to the windshield, and the mirror seems to be securely fixed on the ball. I will update if there are problems down the road, but for now I couldn't be happier with it.

I'm using this not for a Garmin but an Edge Insight CTS2. It's a scanner/electronic gauge for my truck that lets me see 12 gauges of data about my diesel. The Edge mount is way too far forward on an F-350, this is the perfect mount and the ball mount fits the Edge perfectly.
So far the suction is fine, will update should that change in the future.
