The assembly instructions were a little hard to follow since it was mainly all pictures. The instructions completely missed where to mount the hardware on section E. However if you just do the opposite of what you did on section D you will be fine. Also I would recommend you buy your own wood glue to use. The glue that came with the unit must have been sitting around for awhile as it was all separated in the tubes.

Bought this to replace two separate DVD/Video cabinets (both are which were falling apart) as well as a CD rack. We wanted something that could fit everything in one place and be able to fit it under a window in our living room. This fit the bill nicely. I was able to get all our CDs and DVDs/VHS tapes in this thing (we have kids so lots of DVDs to include Disney VHS tapes). I don't know how many we have but bottom line is it's pretty roomy. It also looks nice with our other furniture. There is a similar item with a lid on top that opens Top Load Media Cabinet - Cherry , but we opted for this one with the drawers, again due to the window. Plus we could theoretically put something on top if we desired (like a TV). See my comments about the drawers if you're torn. Maybe you'll want to opt for the lift-top model, if all else is equal.

Like a lot of DIY furniture, assembly was time consuming. I spent the better part of a day getting it all together. I took my time because I'm prone to screw up steps during assembly. The directions were fairly clear as were the diagrams. No major screw-ups on my part which must be a first!

Some CONS: This is a composite particle board product (as most stuff is these days). It still feels solid but it's NOT solid wood. We've already had one of the drawers break. The drawers are put together with glue and a tongue-in-groove attachment. Wood glue supposedly keeps it all together. I stuffed the drawers pretty full so it's partially my fault, but beware. NOTE: Have plenty of clamps (there are 5 drawers) ready or you'll have to wait for one drawer to sufficiently dry before you can glue the next one together.

The racks in the doors are glued on shelving with metal retaining clips that can be sized according to CD or DVD storage. You can also size the interior shelves if you own a LOT of those Disney VHS cases (we own about a dozen and had plenty of room without having to adjust the shelves). I had trouble closing one of the doors due to the DVDs bumping up against things inside. A little shuffling around cured this issue. If you're like me, you own a variety of DVD packaging sizes (multi-disc sets, etc) that don't configure to traditional DVD case size.

We're hoping this one stands up a little better/longer than the previous ones. The fact that I already have to fix a drawer is worrisome. I've only had it together about a week and a half. It was delivered undamaged in one HEAVY box. Required a screwdriver, hammer (it's got one of those nail on back boards), and wood clamps. They provide the wood glue and super glue (for the door shelves) though I put on extra super glue as a precaution. One popped off but re-glued it and so far, so good.

Would i recommend this to others, yes. However be prepared to do some modding based on where you will have it. And make sure to anchor it properly.
The magnetic door holders are not strong enough for even the base weight of the door itself. Had to mod that problem with something not included.
Make sure you get all of the screws flush in the boards they go into or things will clip and cause issues, especially with the drawers.

Also dont use the glue they send with for the drawrs, its way to messy for this unless you do it outside. I picked up a gel gorilla glue that keps it cleaner.

Needed a DVD cabinet for the longest time as I was tired of using my bookcase. So, after reviews I went ahead and bought this cabinet. I have put together prefab furniture together before and expected much of the same with this one. Pressed board, faux finish with cam-bolts and locking pins. I like the look and got it. Unless you are related to Hercules, please use two people to move and unpackage the box. It is extremely heavy. I feel sorry for the delivery folks! So, I unpackaged it and as it says on the instruction/assembly instructions, check for each component and how many are present. I was short on one locking pin and one cam-bolt. I called the parts phone number on the instruction/assembly instructions, but it was a FAX machine. As I got the familiar computer shriek when they want to talk to each other. I sent an email to the published email explaining the missing part, but no response. I did however receive in the mail, one locking pin and one cam-bolt. So the email did find its way to someone.
In the meantime, not sure if I was going to hear back, I ordered replacement parts from Amazon. Not a bad idea to have a few extra pins and cam-bolts on hand if you purchase this sort of furniture. Next, familiarize yourself with the sides as they are marked A, B, C, D and E. The diagrams are a bit lacking in their explanation and layout and in my case completely disregarded panel E. I had to guess it out. So, after completely finishing construction of the cabinet, I started placing the DVDs into it. Because of the positioning of the screw on the panel with the handles, DVD will not fit in the holding tray. And since each door holds three trays, it is virtually impossible to place and remove a DVD when they are nearly full. The DVD must go in at an angle. SO, where 15 DVDs are shown in the door they are not removable by tilting them back as you would a book out of a bookcase. I could only place 12 DVDs in each tray and must tilt them sideways and out. Other than that, not bad. Does its job, looks okay. Just understand when you go to take on this project to put it together, have lots of time to burn. Waiting for the missing part and waiting for glue to set (it says wait an hour but wait a few) it took me four days to build.

Bought this knowing it would be difficult to assemble. In took 5 hours start to finish, but I didn't rush. The instructions are missing an entire page, which explains why so many reviewers said it was difficult to put together, but I was able to figure it out on my own. The cabinet is very sturdy, but the metal bars that hold the movies in the doors keep falling out of place. Also, anything not in a standard dvd or bluray case makes it difficult to keep the doors shut so beware if you collect box sets or other movies in sleeves or special cases. I wish the drawers were wider, but that's not a deal breaker. Overall value for the money could be better, but I'm happy with the final product.
