Terrible sound quality. I tried to return it but this company doesnt accept returns. Update: Seller returned item

I like this boombox very much and the only thing I can't yet seem to get is the pre-select stations, I seem to lose them when I select one. It has good sound and I am able to get very good reception on both the AM and FM. A great refurbished product and you can't beat the price

The Toshiba TY-CKM39 boombox is exactly what I needed to replace an 80's boombox that still worked but was much too big and cumbersome. So far all the features work...CD player, cassette player and radio. I had purchased another brand but the cassette player stopped working shortly after receiving it. Hopefully this one doesn't do that too! It has adequate sound but there's no way to adjust bass or treble if you wanted to do that. For my use it's ok the way it is as I mainly use it for background music while I'm doing my projects...the volume goes quite high and I can hear it many rooms away from where I have it plugged in. The function buttons are easy to understand and see. For the price I would say this is a very nice boombox for every day use.

This is a nice little CD player. I just realized it's almost identical to the one I already have, but the buttons are a bit different. I would give this 5 stars but I find that the controls are not very intuitive.

I do not usually write reviews but felt I needed to write one on this WONDERFUL little Toshiba cd/cassette/radio "boom box" due to What I think are unfair negative reviews it has received. This boom box is excellent! It's versatile, extremely sturdy and well-built. A few reviewers said it was difficult to operate. What they did not note is that this boom box has LOTS of functionality most others in its price range don't offer! If you spend about 5 minutes and take the time to glance over the very easy to understand instructions included with the unit, you will not have any issues learning to operate it! The instructions are in 3 different languages - English, Spanish, and French and each language has its own separate set of instructions.

About the functionality: You can program up to 20 different radio stations. You can also program it to repeat one song/track on a CD, repeat all of the tracks, or random play the tracks. Not only does it play cassette tapes but it also records! You can record from a CD or the radio OR from an external "audio product."

Several other reviewers stated that this unit has a "tinny" sound. I agree that it does sound a bit tinny but almost ALL smaller, portable players do AND if you want to hook up a better speaker to this unit, you can do that too through the AUX IN terminal!

Best of all, to me, was the surprise remote that is included! It's a cute, tiny little remote controller WITH a battery already inserted and ready for you to play! This is the simplest way to get started. I used the remote to start playing a CD while I glanced over the directions. :) That's how I learned about all of the other great features and functions this little, extremely low priced unit has!

I am extremely happy with this boom box!
