I purchased this to replace a junk Magnavox one I bought last year that sounded like crap and conked out in less than a year of ownership. This one sounds so much better and I am hoping it lasts like the one I had prior to purchasing the Magnavox. So far I am more than happy with the sound and would have given it five stars if there was a tone control feature. I had the volume up to see if it would get "tinny" or rattly and it stayed nice and clear. Quite pleased with this purchase

I do not usually write reviews but felt I needed to write one on this WONDERFUL little Toshiba cd/cassette/radio "boom box" due to What I think are unfair negative reviews it has received. This boom box is excellent! It's versatile, extremely sturdy and well-built. A few reviewers said it was difficult to operate. What they did not note is that this boom box has LOTS of functionality most others in its price range don't offer! If you spend about 5 minutes and take the time to glance over the very easy to understand instructions included with the unit, you will not have any issues learning to operate it! The instructions are in 3 different languages - English, Spanish, and French and each language has its own separate set of instructions.

About the functionality: You can program up to 20 different radio stations. You can also program it to repeat one song/track on a CD, repeat all of the tracks, or random play the tracks. Not only does it play cassette tapes but it also records! You can record from a CD or the radio OR from an external "audio product."

Several other reviewers stated that this unit has a "tinny" sound. I agree that it does sound a bit tinny but almost ALL smaller, portable players do AND if you want to hook up a better speaker to this unit, you can do that too through the AUX IN terminal!

Best of all, to me, was the surprise remote that is included! It's a cute, tiny little remote controller WITH a battery already inserted and ready for you to play! This is the simplest way to get started. I used the remote to start playing a CD while I glanced over the directions. :) That's how I learned about all of the other great features and functions this little, extremely low priced unit has!

I am extremely happy with this boom box!

I got this CD player for my wife at her facility. I have set it to play continuously, all night long, every single day, for 17 months now. I start it at 4pm before I leave, and turn it off at 8+am when get back in the morning. It has run non-stop for 16 hours per day, for 510 days. That comes out to about 8,160 hours.

I thought it finally died as I was leaving today. It would just double beep then stop right away, repeatedly. So I cleaned the disc; no help. Then I put my lens cleaning disc into the unit and let it run. Voila! The lens was just dirty.......plays just like new again. One tough little unit I'd say {;-)

This is a great boom box. Easy to change from one function to another. This is a keeper!
