The media could not be loaded. The door arrived well-packaged and undamaged. As I removed the packaging, I was surprised at the excellent quality of the aluminum extrusions and finish. I've installed hundreds of doors and windows and did not expect to see this high-quality materials and mechanism for such a reasonable price. Frankly, I bought this one as a stop-gap just to get something in place until I could find something good-but this screen door is going to stay. The assembly was easy; however, this stuff comes easy to me and I imagine someone without adequate tools or interest could struggle a bit. The instructions are in color and are a bit brief and cover all three versions of the door (Regular, Embedded and Folding) so this could be a bit confusing. My installation is the embedded type (the screen is hidden inside the rail when not in use) and is in our living room on the inside of an out-swinging deck door frame.

Because the directions are brief and meant for experts, here are some hints to help: When you remove them from the box, keep the parts in the same juxta-position because you can get confused. Each frame piece has a little scale on the edge-these should all be on the back side-the side you don't see.

Don't remove the strap around the roller assembly until you are in the assembly phase-it holds the screen and is wound on a spring. The roller will need to be wound about 25-28 full turns COUNTER-clockwise. Don't skimp on this step-from it's initial position, it really needs those 25+ FULL turns to wind the spring. It can be tough to hold on to the center piece during winding-I used a vise-grip-type tool to CAREFULLY grip the center guide and was able to wind the spring easily. Practice slipping the winding guide into the rail before you do the winding so you know when it is seated.

Install the handle and magnetic catches once you are sure you have the parts in the correct orientation. Measure the position carefully-the catches and the magnets need to match exactly-here is a trick to make sure it is done correctly: install the two metal plates (non-magnetic) 14" from top and bottom of the rail without the screen. Next, place the magnets directly on the metal plates (Not on the door side), remove the glue backing from the magnets and close the door! The magnets will end up exactly where they need to be. Push on them to make sure they are well-stuck to the frame.

More hints: Drill pilot holes for the magnetic catch plates with a 1/16" or 3/32" drill-don't go too deep or tool large or the screws will not grab.

Put a bit of screw wax (candle wax will do) on all of the assembly screws (especially the long screws)-this helps them turn in easily without danger of stripping the head.

You do NOT need to screw the door to your door frame. The instructions suggest using builders adhesive which I'm sure works fine, but I used an industrial outdoor Velcro product to attach the screen door to the frame. (Search on Industrial Velcro Strip on Amazon). The acrylic adhesive on the Velcro is aggressive and strong-and the Velcro is amazing-and it can get wet, freeze, cook in the sun and it still works.

By the way, two of my neighbors in my same building have purchased this same door and used the Velcro method!

The media could not be loaded. This far exceeded my expectations. Just make sure to know exactly where it will go and get precise measurements. Once assembled (which was very easy) my screen door fit so well it almost didn't even need to be anchored. A far superior design compared to the magnetic flaps that you have to push through. The screen retracts smoothly and keeps bugs out. The coloring of the screen helps with its visibility as well

Nice to find an option for our laundry room. It's easy to use, and they built the door to fit in our odd sized spot. Glad I found this.. the retractable function is nice and I hope it lasts a long time.

Overall, very happy with the door. It arrived more than a week early, and I was able to assemble and install it by myself. The door opens and closes smoothly and has strong magnets to keep it closed. It looks nice enough both closed and open. The screen has stripes in it is visible when closed. And this product seemed to have a pretty good price point since I wasn't paying a lot of extra for the custom measurements like some other screen doors charged.

I had a few nits about the door, hence the removal of one star: The measurements I provided and what I got were about 1/4" off in both directions. One bigger, other smaller. When closed, there is a vertical pole in the middle of the doorway. It's fine, but I would have preferred the mechanism to stay off to the side hidden by the door frame. The material is unpainted aluminum. Great for not rusting, but I was hoping to paint it white. Using proper primer to get paint to stick on aluminum was more work than I was willing to do, so aluminum color it remains. In assembly, the door handles click into place. This was way more difficult than I expected. I was afraid that I would either bend the frame or break the plastic handles. Eventually got them in place. I was not able to install the lock mechanism that came with the door because it is to be attached to the inside facing surface of the screen door frame, and my door installation was with that surface against the outside trim of my doorway.

Finally, my biggest complaint is that the screen door frame bottom is about 1 1/2" tall. So this is a potential trip hazard. If you have the ability to remove your current door threshold, and cut it off so that the screen door threshold sits against it rather than on top of it, you could reduce the impact. But you would need to do that prior to ordering the door so that you can get accurate measurements.
