My husband and I have had a number of electric blankets over the years. Our problem has been that after about 5 years, they die. So we were yet again in the market. The company from whom we purchased our previous blankets seemed to have died along with our blankets. Therefore, we needed to start at ground zero in purchasing our next set.

As always, we were overwhelmed by choices. We finally decided on the Westinghouse for several reasons. First, the blanket was described as being a bit heavier than others (Sunbeam). While we realize this may not please everyone, we prefer a heavier blanket. (We do live in Chicago.) But having said that, I'd like to point out that we don't feel smothered by it. The top of the blanket is lovely and silky smooth. The underneath is sherpa texture which is warm and cozy. Just great.

The sides and the foot of the blanket have no wires and are actually made for tucking in should we wish to do so. This is the first time I've seen an electric blanket designed with a tucking in feature included. Nicely done, Westinghouse.

Another new feature for us is that you can set the controls to turn off at a specific number of hours. For instance, I usually want a warm bed to get into but then it gets too warm during the night. With this blanket, I am able to set the controls so that the blanket goes off after, say, 4 hours rather than my actually having to turn it off in the middle of the night. Of course should I want it to stay on during the entire 10 hour cycle, I can set it at that too.

Some have criticized the controls as being a bit too bright and you have to get used to where the buttons on the controls are. These are small and temporary inconveniences. One adjusts quickly.

Although we have queen-sized beds, we purchased king-sized blankets because we like the extra drape. As I said initially, this is the best electric blanket we've owned after many years of using them. Go for it!

The blanket that is warm enough to be comfortable for me on 8 to HIGH setting.
From experience, waning temperature output means decline in function, and I suspect this blanket may go out entirely within a year or two, but hopefully I'm wrong. I was going to return it, but out of approx $107 total cost, my estimated refund is only about $88. And the blanket is good right now.

The blanket fabric and texture is a very nice quality. It is the snugglyest electric blanket I've had.
I can't feel the wires, which is great.

I LOVE my electric Blanket. It's soft and comfy and oh so warm on these cold mountain nights"¦ but not loo long after I started to use it again in the fall one of the two controllers went out. So I contacted Westinghouse and they had me do a few things to make sure it was the controller and not the blanket.
They immediately sent out a new controller, which I am waiting for now. But I noticed since I started using the other controller I already have, that it's showing an "E" or error. I didn't notice this at first because I keep my blanket on 3 which is backward from an E"¦
So my point is I hope I'm not having issues with the blanket itself"¦ We'll see when the other controller arrives"¦Westinghouse's Customer Service was easy to work with!

Bought this for my wife, who stays cold due to blood thinner medication. This has been a blessing. She loves the fact it is machine washable and simplicity of the controls.
