This is a great addition to your residential lawn projects. I was able to clear a large amount of limbs in a short while. If you are trying to process freshly cut (green) limbs, it can be more difficult and the limb size is closer to 1.5 inches at most. The machine is relatively light-weight and will move around if you try to process limbs that are too large. With that said, I am happy with the operation, delivery and purchase price.

Is not truly capable of 3" diameter branches. It certainly cannot do thick branches of any appreciable length. I am comfortable feeding any branch of any length at 1-1/2" diameter and short branches up to 2" diameter. You do need to take care with gnarly wood. Curves and forks can be trouble. BUT... I do not think you can find a better chipper at this price. I have had one jam so far and it was easy to clear safely. With regard to assembly it is pretty straightforward. I did make one mistake that cannot be blamed on the product. When I was mounting the feed chute I dropped a mounting bolt into the knives. ARRGH! I had to do quite a bit of disassembly to retrieve that bolt safely. So don't do what I did! Once I had it complete it started easy and ran fine. It has the standard 15:1 size ratio which makes for good chips on a walking path or as mulch. This chipper will get a lot of use over the next few seasons as I clear about 1-1/2 acres of brush on my property. I am also looking forward using it on corn stalks and sunflower stalks from our garden this fall to prepare them for composting. So far I am a satisfied customer.

I give the machine good marks for design and easy assembly. While it ran for 1 to 2 minutes great job. Then it shut off, went back the instructions where I had noted over 1000 ft level a kit was needed. Nowhere in the information on Amazon was this listed. I'm at 7000 ft, if offered I would noted this and requested the kit. I caledl and talked to the manufacturer, they agreed it needed a kit. If you live above 1000 ft, get a high altitude kit with the unit, avoid the frustration and Amazon fix this!

The media could not be loaded. We have a massive amount of bamboo so I cut down some couple times a year. This does the job just fine. Lots of bamboo is 3" and green. I get the regular branches that fall in the yard too.

I took off 1 star because the footprint is small and it's not very stable if loading long branches.
