Very effective toothbrush, worth the money
Gabriel✓ Verified Purchase•November 2, 2023
I bought this as an investment coming from toothbrushes that either were not electric or only vibrated without moving bristles. I can definitely feel the difference in effectiveness after I brush my teeth and it showed the next time I went to the dentist. Particularly if you're considering upgrading from a toothbrush without a spinning head, I would highly recommend this one.
Has a lithium (Li-On) battery

I have been using Oral B electric toothbrushes made by Braun for longer than I'd like to remember and bought this toothbrush to replace an Oral-B Professional Precision 4000 toothbrush that I bought in 2/2019. I used the Precision 4000 at least 3 times per day for 3.5 years.
The only reason that I replaced the old toothbrush is because the battery started to go and wouldn't hold a charge. Braun says that you can't replace the batteries but you can although replacing the battery is a bit difficult, requires the use of a soldering iron, the battery costs about 1/2 the price of a new electric toothbrush and you risk permanently damaging the toothbrush in the process. I replaced the old Oral-B with a new Oral-B because I still had some new, expensive Oral-B replacement brush heads and because the Oral B has served me well and proven to be reliable.
Braun has a lot more models than they used to have and it is very difficult to compare the different models because Oral-B's website sucks. I am very Internet and computer savvy and I spent about 10 minutes on their website and had a very difficult time finding the info I wanted.
Some of their models require you to use your own batteries, others still use older battery tech (NiMH) and some use the newer Lithium (Li-ion) batteries. The lithium batteries are the same type used in your smartphone, should last longer, charge quicker and hold a charge longer so a Lithium battery was a key deciding point in my model selection. I'm a bit surprised that this toothbrush comes with the same model charger that the older unit with a NiMH battery came with but then I'm not an electrical engineer. On Braun's website some of the models were advertised as removing up to 100%, 300% or 500% of plaque compared to manual toothbrushes. Replacing teeth is expensive so I went for the maximum plaque removal and this model was advertised as removing up to 500% compared to manual brushing. I have no way to verify this other than general comments that my dental hygienist might make at my next cleaning but I'll trust Braun on this. Again, Braun's website was almost worthless in explaining how the different models worked to clean teeth which would have enabled a more objective comparison or even of what the battery chemistry was in the different models. They did have a nice chart showing which models did and didn't have Bluetooth. I really see no need for Bluetooth.
Note that you can get a much cheaper in terms of upfront cost Oral-B model but if you have to feed it disposable batteries, get inferior cleaning that cost you more at the dentist then you aren't saving in the medium to longer term.
This toothbrush has 3 speeds which operate like a 3 speed fan which is a pain in the butt. I only use the 'daily clean' speed but still have to push the button 3 more times to turn it off when I'm finished brushing which is a pain. They no longer include a travel case with the toothbrush that I never used anyway. They got cheap on the instructions which used to be in the form of a booklet but is now a fold up with thin paper and a somewhat difficult to read small pale font. The toothbrush is easy to hold with a good grip that doesn't slip out of my hand even when wet in spite of the glossy finish.
This toothbrush also comes with 1 free brush head. Braun has 8 different brush head types now and I think that the included head is what they call a "Cross Action Brush Head" but I can't be sure because it only has a part # and the black and white brochure only gives the names of the different types of brush heads and not the part #s. Braun - pretty sloppy.
I'd give the toothbrush itself a 5 but the website used for selection and instruction booklet shortcomings reduced my rating by 1 star.

Works nicely.

High quality as I expect from Oral-B. I find it easy to hold. Where as it does have a few different options for the types of brushing you'd do but there is only one time.. 2 minutes of over all brush time. I know this is priced as a cheaper product so that's probably why there isn't another time option (like pick 2 min or 3 min) for overall brush time. This item does Not have bluetooth functionality.

Handle is not that slippery unless you're going to pound nails with it. Power button is perfect, it's designed so that if you touch it while brushing it will not turn off accidentally, turning it off has to be deliberate but it's not hard to do at all. It is not as loud as an typical electric razor. Best electric tooth brush I've ever owned. Excellent job of getting teeth very clean when you use as described. Timers are accurate. I especially like that you can turn it off after each quadrant, spit, rinse, apply another dab of tooth paste and then continue without timer resetting as long as you do it within 30 seconds (plenty of time). All around perfect electric tooth brush ! And this is from someone that rarely bothers with reviews. Wish all products were this good.
My hygienists love me
Hilary Rose Bentley✓ Verified Purchase•September 11, 2023
I used to dread my brutal cleanings, and regularly got feedback from the hygienists about the level of plaque under my gums. Ever since I bought this, my hygienists have been in awe over my clean teeth. They have even remarked that I "didn't even have any stains at all," and that I would be "the easiest cleaning of the day." I love it so much. Well worth the $ for the painless cleanings and happy hygienists.
