I just do video editing for fun, I'm not a professional and while I do create some content for YouTube, it's just for sharing with friends and family. When I bought this speed editor, I thought it would probably sit idle on my desk and I would regret the purchase after the "whoopie" factor wears off. I couldn't have been more wrong. For the little editing I do, and the time I've spent going through the Davinci Resolve tutorials, this thing has been worth every penny. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy it just for the jog wheel alone. The license for Davinci Resolve Studio was the icing on the cake. The unit is well built and doesn't feel "cheap" in any way. If you spend any amount of time using Davinci Resolve, I would certainly recommend a speed editor.

For those of us who learned to edit with buttons and a shuttle, this is great! It sped up my process very well.

The question I had and others have answered was, does it include DaVinci Resolve Studio 18 or will it have 17 included. 18 is in the box and the box has a sticker showing it. It also includes a heavy USB-C cable. I haven't used it yet but if you're curious as to what you get, here is the answer.

I had been thinking about switching to Resolve for awhile, as it seemed to be the new hotness. Using the free version, I was convinced very quickly. The free version doesn't work with all of the video formats and outputs though, so you need the studio version. You can get there by way of $300, or buy any Blackmagic hardware. The price varies from same to $100 more, so this is a great entry point.

But the real win is the way this changes how you edit. I think Resolve is already a more logical tool than Premier Pro, but this makes everything faster and easier. It's the reason that the cut page exists. You can move around the timeline and edit with great precision, and make adjustments fast once you know how all of the keys work. I mean, don't like the out point of that thing you just added? Hold down "trim out" and whirl the dial. The unit feels super solid, like a 90's tape edit controller from Sony or Panasonic. The dial has weight and you can feel your movement.
