--- UPDATE March 20, 2024

Excellent customer service. This seller made sure I received all the possible help to resolve my issue and went above and beyond. Kudos to REDTIGER.

Camera is working as expected and no issues have been found after the last update. I'm very happy with this dash camera and its features.

--- UPDATE January 23, 2024

Good customer support but still facing the same problem. You have to format the card once it gets full.

I was contacted by their customer support and was asked to do a firmware upgrade using the file "F7N_v1.20231108.0_318ENKEY.V140" and following the instruction listed on their website. I did the firmware upgrade on December 12 2023 and it was working fine until January 16 2024 when I got the same problem again. While I was driving through town I heard a loud beeping sound and saw a red rectangle on the camera little screen indicating a "Card error. please try to reboot". Of course, once again I'm driving and this camera was beeping constantly so I had to pull over, stop the car and deal with the error message. I rebooted the camera with no change. Same beeping sound and Card error message popped up again. I power-cycle the camera two more times with same result "card error". I had to go thru the menu and format the card and that seems fixed the issue. Doy you see what I mean? it is unacceptable to have a camera that stops recording, starts beeping continuously and the only way to make it work is to manually format the SD card. I have owned several DVR dash cameras through the years, from cheap to expensive (HP, Garmin, Cobra, Kingslim, Rexing, etc) and this is the first camera I came across with this issue.

Are you guys working on a new fix?

---- original review ----

My biggest concern is that it will stop recording in the middle of a trip regardless of the distance. In order to fix it you have to pull over to manually format the SD card which means all the previous recordings will be lost.

I bought this REDTIGER F7N 4K camera to replace an obnoxious Rexing V1P 3rd generation that was failing 50% of the time. This REDTIGER camera was a breeze to install and it was an upgrade from my old one with much better 4K definition on the front and 2.5K on the rear camera. I installed it on my wife's Tacoma and she was very happy specially because she no longer had to unplug the old camera every other time she drove the truck. I put a 128Gb SD card and off she goes. Well, our happiness last three weeks when she told me the camera was making a beeping sound and displaying something on the screen and it was no longer recording. My first thought was there might be something wrong with the SD card so I did the format and told wife you are all set. Two weeks later the same thing happened so with! Turns out that this camera does NOT overwrite previous recordings so when the SD cards gets full it just stop recording until you manually erase/delete all file using the "format" SD card which is a pain in the butt because you have to go through a series of steps in the little screen and takes time. Like I said, for your own security you have to do it safely parked and not while driving. It might be something silly for some but for me is a deal-breaker. Too bad my return window has passed and now I'm stuck with this camera.
Screen is small, but the video output is big enough when you transfer it. Also: buy a second card.

Bought this camera a while back and have been using it for at least a year or more. Great camera, the back camera cord is SUPER long and I was able to string it along the edges of my car without tearing anything out or trying to feed it through anywhere.

The video output is great, though the camera viewscreen is small. Be careful when wearing sunglasses, a few times I thought it was off because my blue blockers blacked it out.

One small thing that is easy to fix: buy 2 SD cards. Unlike my last camera (which I replaced because it was forward facing only) this camera does not delete old files to create new one. Once the card is full, it's full, and will ask you to format to continue using it. My suggestion if you intend on perusing the content you created is to have two cards handy, one to use, and one for when the first one fills up, that way you have some time to check through the files.

Other than that one minor issue, I have nothing bad to say about this camera and I don't regret this purchase.
Excellent main functionality, but does have a few acceptable bads

So I bought a brand new one through my son's account several months ago, and I just purchased a "Used - Like New" sold by TigerDirect just a few days ago. "The Used - Like New" should have all the parts and packaging might be the the only difference, but I did notice some minor parts like wire clips were missing from the "Like New" version, and the manual was much smaller. But the device itself looks new and and is working great so far!

I got one of those power adapter that splits power on the rear view mirror so that I don't have to run through the power wires across the windshield or dashboard and etc and with it, the dash cam installed nice and clean. Also getting the wires for the rear cam hidden under the cloth material inside the car was much easier that I thought and the package included the orange plastic tool that helps to do that.

It records nicely both front and back. But once in a while, the it skips like maybe a quarter of a second so you see the recording skip, but I don't think that will cause it to miss recording any important event.
The cam acts as wi-fi host and my phone needs to connect to it to view the recordings on my phone without taking the microSD card out of the cam. It's bit annoying and I don't use this feature. I just got one of those microSD card reader that has both USB-C and connection for iPhone port and just view that way. I have to take microSD card out of the cam, but much easier this way than doing the whole wi-fi stuff.
I was viewing the recording through RedTiger Player on Windows and I did notice that some files did not have the speed and GPS coordinate saved so that it shows 0 MPH for speed and no map. It's not often, but I did notice this once in a while and in between the clips for same trip.
The recorded audio is very soft and I can barely hear anything. So I don't even bother recording audio and I don't think the audio will be useful anyways.

So there are few things that isn't great, but they were acceptable for me at least to keep the cam.
I will have to see how it survives the hot summer in the car and how long it last, but hopefully it will survive the heat and keeps recording for at least several years.
Perfect Unit for My Needs

I just upgraded to this USB Type-C unit from the previous unit. I have it on my 2022 Kona as it is the first car I've bought brand new. Only 16 miles on it when I got it! The video quality on this unit is absolutely amazing. I caught an accident on my rear cam and gave the footage to the police. They were impressed with the clarity. I've caught several "interesting" instances of other people's driving and the detail from the front camera is *chef's kiss.* Thankfully I haven't had to use footage for an accident I've been involved in but I feel much more secure knowing that the situation will be recorded well for insurance purposes. The curvature of the front and back camera helps catch blind spots I feel other cameras might miss.

The installation takes a little work and the instructions are a little...fuzzy but the hardwire kit was easy to figure out with a friend and i much prefer it over having the unit plugged into my 12 volt. Do they still call those cigarette lighters? Lol The inclusion of the wire holders is a nice touch from the previous unit if someone were to stick with powering the unit from the 12 volt.

The RedTiger app is simple, straightforward, and marks the recorded videos "F" and "R" for front and rear to easily distinguish between the two. The old app didn't do that. The GPS is accurate and would help cover me if and when it was needed. My only complaint is how long it takes to pull a video but I have my camera set to record 5-minute intervals so that's a lot of data to download. I guess it's not too bad considering that. I look forward to many years with this unit and feeling more protected knowing I'll be able to show the true story if something were to happen.
Great camera in a small package
Amazon Customer✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 2, 2024
I've had this for about 2 weeks and overall it works great. The picture quality is terrific. Camera is pretty small compared to others I looked at, but does the job.

Easy to install after you pick the location. Just peel and stick. Seems to hold very well so far. Just be sure the spot works for you. You only get one chance to stick it. Not sure what happens to the adhesive if I unstick and move it. Haven't tried that yet.

Problem was the wiring to the rear camera was just a bit too short. tried several options along the bottom of the car but could not get it to reach. Looking into a possible extension wire, as there is a connector that would lead itself to a possible addition. Haven't researched that yet. Maybe another 4 feet?

Another issue is the hard wire kit I bought after I got this Dashcam. It has two fuses integrated into the connectors. Unfortunately my vehicle used a much smaller fuse. No way to swap the fuse or any solution if/(when?) a fuse blows. Have since seen several hardwire kits that contain fuse options including replaceable fuses and multiple sizes. Might want to consider that instead of the dedicated one that pairs with this cam.
So, since I have not yet remedied this issue, I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the 24hr parking monitoring function. Have not done any night driving lately either, so cannot comment on the night vision yet. Perhaps an update in a few weeks.

Other comments - using it mainly in back and forth commuting to/from work so far. Commute is about 40 minutes each way. Card is generating approximately 12 GB of files per day. I got a 256GB card that seems to work well. No compatibility issues. This means I can go quite a while before old data is overwritten. I'll have to see what kind of results I get when I do a weekend road trip.

Settings are pretty straightforward for setup. Go through all the setup options before you mount the camera in the car. Much easier to get a feel of how the controls work if it's not mounted.

I've used the phone app and it is adequate, bit not overly impressive. It does what it needs to do, but is not flashy. Basic functionality to allow you to download and view videos from your phone. It takes a bit of time to download wirelessly, so I just pop the card out and load it directly to my home computer. Works well.

There is a software program that is recommended to use and it works nicely. can also line up the video with an onscreen map to see where you want on the map. nice touch there.

Note: I reached out to the vendor via email, and they responded in less that 3 hours on how I can remedy the short rear cam wire, and how to get the new and improved Hardwire kit. Very impressive response time. Five stars for effort. Will update once we work out the details.
