I ended up purchasing this in september for our elf to bring the first day of december. Based on reviews I had read, I had it shipped to my sisters house so that my kiddo would not see it (the reviews said it would not be shipped in a box, but mine was). I got it for just under $18, so definitely watch the price because I did see this in stores around our town as the season got closer for more than double that. All of that being said, my kiddos absolutely LOVED this and I would have paid the double pricetag for it. This will be something that is out every year now. I was expecting super cheap and cheesy pieces, and though the trees are repeated in the calendar, it was much much higher quality-like something I will save for my grand kids. The cardboard train will probably not make it, but that is ok. The minis are super fun and we can create whole scenes with our scout elf.

Great fun for my little trainiac. I was a little worried it would just be more clutter after Christmas, but he discovered they fit perfectly on his wooden train tracks, so they can just live with the rest of his trains.
I do wish the little figurines were a little better designed. They're so top-heavy, they don't really stand up. But they're cute.

I didn't think I would get a premade advent calendar for my kid this year, but then I saw this. I am so glad I bought it. The pieces are a great quality and everything can be used as decorations when she grows to old to want to play with them. I already bought the next one.
