I've been using this door for over a year on my chicken run that is permanently attached to the coop, and I love it! I still go out at dusk and close it manually once all the girls are in, but I love that I don't have to go out in the morning (and the girls love it too, because usually I'm late). I also like that I can leave for the weekend and I don't have to have someone come open/close while I'm gone.

Pros:
1. Works as advertised!
2. I put fresh batteries in once per year in the fall (as the instructions say) and my batteries have always lasted. For reference, I live in Oregon at elevation so we get relatively cold & snowy winters.
3. Customer support is FANTASTIC! Anytime I have a question, they respond quickly (usually within a day) and are always friendly and helpful.

I can't think of any "cons", but there are things you should be aware of:
1. The manual override button on the outside CAN be activated by raccoons. It happened to me and it was horrific! I solved this by mounting the door on the inside of the run, rather than the outside. Mine is an open-air run with a roof, so it stays light enough that the door doesn't close too soon. I would not feel comfortable mounting this on the outside of a coop/run unless I came up with a way to protect the button.
2. If you get melting days and freezing nights in the winter and the door is exposed to the elements, it will freeze up and not open in the morning. When my door was mounted on the outside of the run, I solved this by using an old window to create a shed roof (use a window rather than a solid material so the light sensor doesn't get affected). That worked great!

All in all, a great product with great customer support that has simplified my chicken life. If anything happens to this one, I will definitely buy another.

Overall, this was easier to install than the previous "Chicken Guard" product we had (the one that hangs on a string). That had gotten "caught up" several times. This product doesn't have that issue as the door just moves along on a gear/cog system.

I will say that Chicken Gauard's light sensor and timing options were more robust. With this product, it's a bit more difficult to get this to open early enough for our chickens.

I purchased another brand for my first coop because it was less expensive. It has the battery, solar power options, but recommended using the electrical power source primarily. And although it works consiste When plugged in, the battery back up has failed me when there is a power outage. I added an additional coop and purchased The Run Chicken door for it. It has NEVER failed. It is exclusively a battery operated system, I have had it for two months now. I love that you can program it with their app and installation was a breeze. I would definitely purchase it again.

Held off on getting this for a while. Very glad I finally purchased it. Had it for a while now and it is very reliable and has made my life easier not having to go let the birds out or close them up at night.

Added this to our chicken run to let the girls out in the morning and lock them up at night. Extremely easy to put on and program. Sturdy and has functioned through a tough rainstorm. Got a cheaper brand for the coop from another company prior and the door broke after 2 weeks and their customer service SUCKED. I say that because after I researched this door and before I purchased it, this company contacted me to let me know IF I ordered their door they would be there for me. I ordered it and have had not to contact them because it has been great. But I ordered it based on their initial contact....highly recommend these guys!!!!
