I can confirm that a USB 3.0 device plugged into a "powered down" port will not be recognized. So this is not a "power supplement", but a "power replacement".
My USB soundbar is perhaps slightly louder, and perhaps a little more "hiss", but now I can attach all my USB 3.0 devices, and actually "power down" those I seldom use.
I wasn't sure my laptop power supply/aging battery was up to powering many devices, now it doesn't have to.
Will definitely buy more of these.

I have several USB devices connected to my laptop. Plugged this into one USB port and connected three external hard drives , two USB powered fans and have a enough room to charge my phone as well. The on/off power switches are perfect for powering down my cooling fans as needed. Wish I got this earlier.

Does what it needs to do, and has a lot of ports. It gets 4/5 because I haven't had this thing a whole year and the lights are already going out towards the center ports. This thing is taped to a desk, doesn't move, and rarely had any of the ports turned on or off, but somehow is already losing lighting. It does not affect the ports but the whole point of me buying this was to have the visual to know it is on or off.
Other than that, it is a great product. Stays powered, ports all work, material quality is very nice, quality cables, and a nice flat surface to tape down or just sit somewhere. Glad I bought it.

However...the 1m USB cord was just too short. 1.5m would have been perfect. I see many other reviews have made the same comment. I'd rather the seller up the price by .50c and give the longer cord, or even give the options at different price points.

This has worked wonderfully for me, allowing me to use the quick charge and other USB connections as needed. I appreciate that the buttons to the right can dictate if a USB port is currently "on" or not, just a nice feature for an at the glance view of how much's being used or not. The light's not so bright that it distracts me at night when sleeping, and it's tucked back on my desk for ease of reach and use, but not being in the way of anything else I'm doing. Easy to connect to a computer or tablet if you're wanting the additional USB connections it offers, but I use it to charge devices primarily, and it's wonderful for that too.
