We saved 260 dollars taking a gamble on this device. I would scan the "default setting" bar code then program it to what you need, like the big QR box we needed to scan.

*This scanner is wired USB connection only. It feels lightweight and cheap, but it gets the job done. I do think the ones with wireless usb receivers, or Bluetooth connection are much more convenient.

* I'm fairly new to barcode scanners. I assumed like other gadgets, you download some sort of software or app to view the codes you've scanned. That is not the case at all. I found out that they work like keyboard inputs. You can open any program on your pc where you can see the blinking cursor, such as word, notepad, excel, etc. Wherever you put the blinking cursor, aka, insertion point, that is where the codes will show up. You can set it up to show up instantaneously the moment you scan, or you can use the scanner in storage mode, then upload everything later.

* Because there are no apps or software to download like with traditional gadgets, all the settings and set-ups are done by scanning barcodes. Netum gives you a little thick manual. Unfortunately, it's thick because it's accommodating many different languages. There are only a few pages for English, and very little barcodes. Each barcode is for a particular setting. The one setting that is very important to me is the ability to remove a certain amount of characters at the start or at the end of the code. For example, when you scan a USPS package, it'll add 9 digits/characters in front of the tracking number that's on your package. These digits are hidden, that's why you don't see them on your package. I then have to manually delete them, which is a hassle. There should be a barcode setting to remove a certain amount of characters at the start or end of a tracking number. This setting is not in the manual, but they do provide an email for you to contact them should you need settings that are not in the manual. I find that very inconvenient. Why not create a complete manual and set it online for us to download?

Overall, for the price you're paying, this is not bad. I'll go 4-Stars!

Wow! Impressive bar code scanner! It comes equipped with everything you need and works like a charm. While I'm not ready to put this to use just yet, I will use this during my yearly festival when it comes back around next year, as the one I was using is too dated.

This one is durable and well made, and I like the strong yet moldable goose neck. It has an auto scan feature that works great because you don't even need to hold the scanner in hand for it to work, just place the barcode under it and it scans it on its own, suppose to be for faster checkouts.

Our barcode scanners in the school library are getting super old. They are pre USB so us an adapter to even connect to a USB port. They have coiled super long cables and a continuous mode where the beam stays on and is a constant red line on the counter. This Netum wired USB scanner is simple to use if you just want to use the trigger. It was plug and play. It comes with a book of barcodes to change settings on the scanner. I wanted to put it in continuous mode so I scanned the barcode labelled Continuous on page 4 of the book. It changed from using the trigger to several flashes in a row followed by a short couple second break and then flashhes of beam. So it is not the one solid beam shining and waiting for a barcode, but it does stay running.

The stand it comes with is fairly stable and easy to put together. It has no height adjustment but it is flexible so it will tilt the scanner. If your computer is close by then the length of the cable will be sufficient. I have a stand up desk that makes the cord a bit short for my liking but I can move the stand down onto the counter and use it that way.

It seems well priced and a good entry level barcode scanner. They have many variation of this scanner that include wireless and Bluetooth options to fit your needs. This one is only corded. Note: Definitely DO NOT throw out the little book with all of the barcodes to change settings.

Wanted this for my wife to help her scan items for her direct sales business. Never used one before and I am in no way an expert when it comes to these. As far as plug and play - it worked right out of the box. Opened excel and put cursor in box and scanned the item andd code went into the box. It was not fireworks, but it was cool. I was hoping for name, price and description, but I was not so lucky. Putting together was easy. Everything is in the box. Just need a screwdriver and tighten a lock nut with your finger and you are good to go. Pretty great design. Easy to remove wand or leave and scan from the holder. Manual is key as it has all the scan codes, but for ease, this was easy. Plug into computer, open excel and scan.
