The FXW Rollick Dog Playpen has proven to be an absolute lifesaver for my household, earning an emphatic 5-star rating. I purchased the larger 40" height version for my smaller dog after his back surgery, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. We needed a kennel that was large enough for some walk around room, but still confined enough to adhere to the vet's limit activity edict.

One of the standout features of this playpen is its versatility. While designed for camping and yard use, I repurposed it as an indoor kennel for my recovering pup. The 8-panel design offers ample space for my dog to rest and recuperate without the worry of overexertion. The taller panels provide the confinement he needs while allowing lighter activity, which is crucial during the recovery period.

Setting up the playpen was an absolute breeze. The ease with which I could assemble and disassemble the panels was a godsend during a time when I needed quick moves. It's well-made and sturdy, and I was particularly impressed by the heavy, durable pieces. I did need to connect the kennel sides with zipties to make it sturdier for indoor use (as the posts are more designed for outdoor securing). My elder dog takes gates and fences as a challenge and securing the pieces we necessary. In terms of making this better for indoor use I also bought the 'FXW Floor Protectors Only Suitable for Rollick Dog Playpen, 20PCS' for this setup.

One special note - due to how this was shipped and the weight of it... one or two of the gate pieces had small warps on them (see picture above). It was not a deterrent for me and honestly was barely noticeable when I had everything set up.

This fence is exactly what we needed for our new puppy. She needed a place to walk and run without a leash, and potty training was not going well. She is a "bolter" so she had to be leashed every time we opened the door. We purchased two units, so we were able to make a nice play area adjacent to the patio. Now I can open the door and send her out to potty and play without having to be there with her. Super easy to assemble. We literally had a fenced in area within one hour of receiving the unit. The fence looks really nice and fits in with the the look of the neighborhood, which has black wrought iron fencing around many of the yards. We hammered the spikes down well, so the fence feels really secure. No wobble at all. The only slightly negative is the latches on the gates are not as secure as I would like, so we added small aluminum D rings to "lock" the gates. We could not be more pleased with our purchase.

This playpen was great at first, but then my puppy taught herself how to climb out of said playpen. I don't think climbers are common, but if you do get this, make sure to keep an eye on the dog. Also, I used this as a substitution for a crate. It worked for a while, but as I previously mentioned, my puppy taught herself how to climb it like a ladder. Get some no skid rubber bumpers for the feet if you don't want this thing sliding around. It comes apart and can be used as safety gates as well to temporarily keep the dog from getting into places you don't want it. I use two panels to block the kitchen while I'm cooking, and the rest for other barriers/ toy storage.

We adopted a puppy and she wanted to chew on everything in the backyard. All the plants, the railroad ties, the rocks ... we knew we had to do something to keep her safe. Our dog is going to be large, so we opted for the 40" panels.

This fencing was the perfect solution. We started with 16 then after seeing how well it was working and the great quality, we bought a second pack of 16. I said to my husband buying two sets is a big investment and he didn't miss a beat with his reply ... "It's a lot less expensive than one emergency vet visit."

One door panel damaged which was immediately replaced for us after we sent photos of the damaged box and door so customer service also gets 5 stars.

We have created an outdoor dog run which allows our dog to be in the yard unsupervised to sun herself and go out to do her business. Additionally, we used two sets of two panels in the house. One blocks off the cat bed so he can relax in peace. We are lucky that the dog does not jump or push not this, so two panels is sufficient. The other set is around the cat condo and prevents the pup from jumping at him. For the ones in the house, we have used rubber caps on the end of the poles so the floors don't get damaged.

Also, to increase the sturdiness of the run outside, on every other panel, we placed an eye-hook in the railroad tie and tie-wrapped the panels in case our dog jumps on it now that she's gotten tall enough that her paws reach the top of the fencing. Though so far, she's perfectly happy with it and has left it alone.

I waited several week before writing this review in case something might come to mind that I didn't notice right away, but this fencing is working out perfectly all the way around. If we ever need more in the future, I'll buy this brand again. Highly recommend.

UPDATE: I received the offer of a full refund from the seller. The customer service reps were very responsive. However, I refused the refund and sent this message back:

"Thank you very much for this offer. I am reluctant to accept your offer - though it is generous and definitely makes me want to purchase more from you. The rust is there and it is an issue - but at this point - I can still use the fencing. So - I would like to suggest that I continue to use the fencing - and if the rusting progresses to the point where the fencing is unsafe, unusable because of rusting or becomes just overtaken by rust within a reasonable period of time...then I will request a refund. It doesn't seem fair to receive a full refund at this point when the fencing is still working - and I don't want to put a business that is trying to do a good job out of business!

However, please address the rust issue. It would be great for people to not have to worry about it."

I ordered the 24", 24 panel set and also the 3 carry bags that go with this fencing. The fence was received quickly and while not super easy to set up for one person - I got better with practice. At the bottom of one panel, I noticed paint missing - but - because I hate the hassle of returning things, I decided it wasn't worth making an issue of - and I did not report it.

Because I wanted my dogs to become accustomed to the pen, I set it up outside. There are many pictures of it being set up outside on AMZ, and even being used as what appears to be permanent fencing. However, after only two days of sitting outside, it began to rust. It appears to be a paint issue. I have been very gentle with the fence, but the paint scratches off incredibly easily. The latches have rusted in the interior of the mechanism, and several of the connecting poles of scratches that are now rusting. The panel with the larger amount of paint missing is really showing the rust.

Attempted to contact the seller through his website and although it says they will respond within 48 hours - that did not happen. They have a phone number that is "unavailable". There is no way to contact them without using a web form, apparently. I spent several hundred dollars on this setup - and to see it rusting after 4 weeks and less than a week of exterior use is upsetting.

I don't know what to do at this point except to recommend to not purchase. The paint quality and how it is being applied is ruining an otherwise great product. The lack of speedy response and the lack of a working phone number for customer support is another concern.
