It didn't boil my fish and appears to be working okay. It's a little less than 2 degrees higher than the actual water temperature. For the price I paid on sale it's worth it.
What really bothers me are the cords are backwards from what I think they should be (see pic). Right now I have it hanging over the top of my tank with the power cord plugged in to an outlet just above the floor where most outlets are. The controller hangs upside down because the power cord comes out the top of the controller.
When I mount this on a wall so I can see the controller right side up, the power cord will need to be looped over the top of the controller then run down to the outlet. Same with the heater cord. It will need to be looped under the controller then run up to the tank.
HiTauing makes other heaters that both cords come out the bottom.

I like this heater so much I returned the one I had already gotten from the pet store. The suction cups work well and it heats very quickly. I like that it shows you the current tank temperature as well as the preset temperature you choose and whether it's heating or not. It stores the last set temperature in case of power outages as well. I've been checking my floating thermometer and it seems to be accurate with its heating.
